That's my other option. I'm not ready to swap yet, going to do it with my next timing belt change.

My truck stays nice and cool with the AC on full blast, and wheeling in 90*+ heat and humidity. I have the smallest tacoma radiator you can get cooling my 3.4, stock fan and half a shroud. I've been happy with it so far. If the 5vz was overheating your radiator or fan clutch was bad, my truck for really hot a few times and it was the fan clutch and the radiator was almost totally clogged with mud and crap. I have like everything under the sun blocking airflow, steering cooler, winch, winch control box, shitty bumper, skid plate etc...

All 3 of my 5vz trucks have overheated before, but they're also automatics. I'm assuming that plays a factor since trans fluid adds heat to the radiator. My third gen overheated on the first wheeling trip out when it was sparkling clean, just running the AC on a steep dirt road. Wife's third gen overheated around town one day a year ago, then never again. My tacoma would overheat plenty, but when I replaced the radiator that was very clearly the problem lol. Still hit 230 degrees trying to drive up the insanely steep road at windrock though.
3rz never gets above 190, it's really nice. Manual truck and all metal radiator though.

Wow that's crazy, something's not right with all that. I have a denso plastic stock single core tiny radiator with no issues with my AC on full blast all the time because I'm a pussy when it comes to heat and humidity, weird. The fan clutch was working in all those situations? Mine hit like 230 and you could freely spin the fan, replaced the clutch and it was gtg.

Fan was going every time. I think the auto trans just pumps that much heat

John’s 4Runner uses a 3VZ radiator with the 5VZ swapped auto and no overheating. The 3VZ rad is like 4-5 inches smaller in all directions compared to a 5VZ rad too

Now that's pretty interesting. No issues in Moab 2 years ago?

List of shit I need to do:

-Fix this damn rattle right next to my left ear that occurs at mid-range bass frequencies
-Remove a leaf from each leaf pack, clean/repaint/reline leaf packs
-Cut off old LCAs, Install new LCAs
-Remove passenger side quarter panel to find this awful rustling at speed rattle I've been listening to for years
-Remove driver side quarter panel and straighten it because LBJ failure from 8 years ago lulz
-Paint gap filler piece under headlight to match new plastidip job
-Paint new center caps and install
-Drill new hole for oil drain plug on skid after welding a patch plate in place
EDIT: fix horn (probably a bad ground.. again...)

I'd rather do the suspension work. I hate dealing with interior plastic panels. Plastic is much less forgiving than metal is lol

I've taken apart the interior plastics so many times I could do it with my eyes closed lol. I even replaced some of the clips with actual screws into plastic sleeves so it would be easier to remove the next time.

Taco got kicked out of the garage for now, at least until my roommate moves out and there's no longer two motorcycles in the garage.

    New member of the family.

Got this one done, turned out one of the fender liner clips broke and was rattling around all over the place in the wind, between the fender liner and the front of the passenger side door. No more rattle now! So much quieter on the highway.

But I forgot to add -fix horn to my list. Can't keep the goddamn things grounded and one always goes out. "Meep meep" I honk, as I try to convey anger towards nearby drivers.

I love those cars and have always wanted one. Especially a wagon.
