As it says, a lot of peeps have said their local inventory is limited. I decided to check my local dealer, McCords Toyota of Vancouver (Wa) and they have 103 Tacomas in stock. They also showed a long bed Limited, which must be new for 2021. I bought my truck here in 19 and had a good experience. Oh, and I dont work there, for the TW skeptics. Dont have the details handy, but when I bought mine, I got about 9% off of msrp before TTL.

A local dealer showed a high stock online, but when you went in person it was very limited. I assume my dealer was showing future inventory or inventory from sister dealerships (not even sure that's a thing though). Don't get your hopes up until you see in person. High stock means you've got wiggle room for talking them down.

I thought the same thing right after I hit send. It wouldnt surprise me that the inventory may be wrong, or even way wrong, the way dealerships use these dishonest sales tactics.

A lot of them have off the lot stock in another area. They’ll have a lot downtown full of cars.

When I bought my truck in Salem last year, I asked the dealer how they handled when to advertise the truck for sale, it came down to when they had a ship date from the distribution lot at the factory. At that point they knew it would be however many days until it arrived.

I asked because I showed up on a Saturday morning with the VIN that I had got from another dealer to look at that exact truck. It was in their system, but the sales guy was positive they didn't have any Barcelona Red trucks on the lot. We went and walked the lot, and it had just been unloaded that morning.

Anyway, Beaverton Toyota near my house has 39 listed which is about half of what they would normally have on their website, so hopefully stock is starting to get out to dealers.

Yep, my local dealer shows 68 Tacoma's in stock, but if you go look at the lot, there's only 5 or 6. Everything else is "In Transit." I think they try to show a lot of stock to keep people from getting discouraged and looking elsewhere.

Even if they're showing inventory for multiple dealerships, and even if they were "sharing" inventory for 20 dealerships (which seems unlikely and high,) that's still 5 actual Tacos per dealership which is pretty good for recent times.

My local dealer shows over 100 Tacomas in stock but has 22 on the lot which is still a lot if you ask me

Most of the dealers in my region always have Tacomas in stock. There has never been a shortage as far as I could see. Maybe around 2023 prices will float back down to normal.

I called a dealer who had a few of what I wanted 'in stock' with fake VINs.
Trucks weren't even built yet, they apologized for the error and blamed it on their inventory system and would correct the error.
Desperately wanted me to leave a deposit though.

Just checked... 'error' not corrected. In fact they added more.
