I just totaled my 08 Tacoma DCLB Sport and ordered a 2021 TRD OR. Questions....
    1) Does the 4x4 switch illuminate?
    2) Does the 3rd brake light also light the bed?
    3) Does the hood have lights underneath which illuminate the engine compartment when hood is lifted?
    4) Are the mud flaps flexible or stiff?
    5) Does the TRD OR come with remote start?
    6) How far does the steering wheel scope out?
    7) Can the cruise control assist be disabled?
That's it for now but may think of more...

Sorry to hear about your 08', hope no one was hurt. Your 21' is going to be damn near the same except for some minor differences here and there.

Hey, if you're on a roller coaster there's ice cream later.

    Check build thread!
    1. The switch itself? It lights up when your lights are on. Indicator light is on the dash
    2. Yes
    3. No.
    4. Oem are stiff.
    5. Yes. Press lock 3 times, and hold. Lights will flash and truck will start. Truck will shut off when door is opened.
    6. Pretty damned far. (6-8 inches). I've been comfortable in all of the ones I've driven (dealership employee, just ordered one), I'm 6 3 and i fit.
    7. Depends what assist you mean. Steering assist, yes, in the settings in the center screen between the tach and the speedo.

    1) I would have to check on this. Haven’t really looked.
    2) Yes, but there’s also a bed light kit that’s an easy install and provides a lot of extra light.
    3) No
    4) Stiff
    5) Yes, I believe they have remote start via the key fob. If you get the remote services option it also allows remote start via the Toyota app.
    6) maybe a couple of inches or so. I haven’t adjusted it much, but don’t remember it being a lot.
    7) I think the dynamic cruise control can be disabled. I think you hold the cruise control button on the stalk for a few seconds to revert to traditional cruise control. It’s been awhile since I looked into that, so my memory is a bit fuzzy there.

    Thanks for responding. My 2008, many of these I added. The illuminated 4x4 switch; Under hood lights; Better Bed lights;
    The Mud flaps were stiff and removed themselves, which is why they ‘should’ be flexible/rubber;
I never installed remote start but would welcome it; The steering wheel telescoped only 2” max; The cruise control assist is flat out dangerous!

Note on 5: only on auto transmission. No remote start on MT.
    7. On my 2020, you can disable the radar portion of the cruise control and revert it to an old-school “dumb” cruise control that just holds the speed you set.

Some of the other points are why I told the dealer I didn’t want the mud guards (put on flexible Rek Gens myself) or the bed lights (save about $100 and install the OEM ones yourself in 10-15 minutes).

After 13 plus years, Toyota still doesn’t have manual transmission on the DCLB. The only configuration it’s not available.

True, but I didn’t see that the new truck is a long bed, just TRD OR.

Correct, I did not put that in description. Not in the thread title at least.
    I added ‘DCLB’ to title

The answers to question 6 are wide range, from not far to 6-8”... What’s the actual distance of the telescoping steering wheel?

I checked mine just now and it has about 2 inches or so of total movement forwards/backwards.

Maybe the 6-8 inches was referring to the tilt. No way it’s telescoping that much though.

How is it dangerous? I use mine a lot and have zero danger.
Dropping in 10' on a mtn bike is dangerous.
Racing superbikes on the Isle of Man is dangerous.
Wing suit flying between buildings in dangerous.
Dynamic cruise control is not dangerous.

Setting the cruise at 65 on a major highway, some other driver cuts me off, the car suddenly slams the brakes and the driver behind me almost rear ends me... quite dangerous.
