I know that struggle. He’s 10, and the most i can get him to sit is 2 hours, with his phone.

Id say this kid was ruined on the youth hunt but his dad would let this one walk for 2 years before he considered it, so I assume this kid will have a life full of monsters. Story goes they watched a doe for 20 mins waiting for her to turn broad side and a 4 or came out and right before they flipped the safety off this guy shows up.FB_IMG_1605752431772.jpg

I think so too. I know he survived last season. Found the shed on adjoining property. Doesn’t look like he’s grown much. Not sure what the deal is to make him have the screwed up rack. Gonna try to take him out in the next few weeks.

Those are yellow acorns, they’re indigenous to this region. We just rake em up in piles :D

Baiting used to not be legal here (like 5 years ago) and really if everyone is baiting its basically the same as if no one is baiting imo; at least as far as holding deer on your property. It does give you a better idea of where deer will be and probably get a little longer to see a deer and maybe get a better shot angle than you would if they were just randomly passing by.

Baiting. Not fair chase? Then neither are food plots. Both are done to influence deer movement and "hold" deer on a property. Take large operations like the Kisky's, Drury's, Lakosky's, etc... these are large farms with crops planted for the sole purpose of maintaining whitetail herds and increasing trophy buck potential. Gives new meaning to the term whitetail harvest.

I'm just playing devil's advocate here. There are long term wildlife benefits to food plots. I get it. If I owned the 800+acre property I hunt on, it would be managed quite differently. With small food plots back in timber areas and such. Purpose? Influence deer movements and hold deer on the property.

I've got a food plot planted and corn on the ground and have seen one small yearling the last 7 sits.

Just because you put bait out doesn't mean it's like shooting fish in a barrel

We mostly feed squirrels coons and possums with our corn piles... And have pictures to prove it lol. I will say we put out some lucky buck on some stumps and it holds the deer there for way longer than I would have thought. Several days I have the same doe and yearlin hanging out for 2+ hours with a pic every 10 seconds, that will fill a memory card up in a hurry

This! I don’t bait, but I don’t see anything inherently wrong with it. Not legal where I’m at. But I just don’t know if I have the patience to sit still over bait all day lol. I need to up and move to the next ridge.
