Hi are p0420/p0430 bad to run? I dont mind the check engine! Also i had a exhaust leak so i refaced the manifolds to make sure they dont leak, might do it, heres somes pictures. Does o2 simulator works? (Theyre not plugged as engine runs great)

p0420 is catalyst inefficiency (bad cat).

I'm pretty sure Toyota's are really sensitive on this code and that I've seen it pop up on my own truck due to a flange leaking before the secondary 02 sensor. So check for any exhaust leaks first.

Running for a long time with an actual failed cat will eventually cause the cat to clog and disintegrate and cause poor running / MPG's, and even misfires.

Better to fix it right than use an 02 simulator. Although 02 simulators from URD work really well I'ver heard.

I wouldn’t want to run those lights if the truck is adding more fuel.
You’d risk dumping more fuel on the converters and possibly damaging them.

Really it would be better to know what sensors are causing the CEL?
And with out the proper equipment, it can be tricky to figure out.

If they start clogging they will have a go on the water jet to empty them, then ill probably run o2 simulators, trucks a 2006 and i plan on beating the shit out of it, putting new cats wouldnt be ethic

The O2 Sensors are after the cats, if it is the O2 sensors causing the lights, you might be ok?
With the cats “empty”, I don’t think you’ll have an issue.
And it would probably require simulator if you want no CEL?
If it’s just a beater and you don’t care, Run it?

I’d still want to make sure it’s not the A/F sensors. Just so I’m not going too Rich / Lean.

You could look at the fuel trims with a scan tool.
If they are with in 5-10% I would say, drive on:headbang:
Closer to 5% the better, but it is an 06’ which is 14 years old.
