    Morning,

I had an idea of this sort stewing in my mind for a couple of years and after a couple good conversations 20 days ago I decided to put something into action.

    Here it is.

Introducing: Overland Flagstaff - The premiere turn-key Overland rental company, propelled by the legendary Toyota Tacoma, located in the beautiful landscape that is Northern Arizona. Explore the lightly treaded areas of the Southwest behind the wheel of a fully equipped Overland rig. Each truck comes with everything you need to get outdoors.

    www.overlandflagstaff.com

Currently offer 1 truck, but I am in the process of acquiring and outfitting a second Tacoma.

Let me know what you guys think about the site. Feedback of all types is appreciated.

    Thank you.

*Couldn't find anywhere where this was against forum rules, but if it is feel free to slap my hand.

May need to nickname the business 50 shades of (offroad) Orange for every eventual repainted panel that may or may not match its surrounding landscape. LOL

    Cool idea!

Since the response to my last post was just so overwhelming I'll share the link to the YouTube live stream that occurred last night. The interview will be on your favorite podcast streaming service later this week.

Cool Idea. Hope it works out well for you! I would say get a sport. Most folks wouldn’t be pushing things enough to use CC and the locker in a rental.. Hopefully not at least haha. Maybe save a few thousand. Obviously your gig though! Good luck!

I'm not so sure,...after watching ton's of Matt's Towing and Recovery videos, I think it's the rental people that do the craziest things.

Hey man, great idea for a business. I'm assuming with renting the rig with RTT you are asked for boondocking sites so I was hoping you might be able to share some info. In June I'll be making a long day swing from Zion, to Vegas to drop my GF at the airport, then out to Grand Canyon, and then heading towards 4 corners. Somewhere after the Grand Canyon me and my buddy in a sprinter van are hoping to find somewhere to camp for the night. Any recommendations, it will be a Saturday night in June, so guessing things will be busy? Obviously my Taco can get many places his sprinter can't so he's our limiting factor. The overall trip is going to be about 5 weeks long for me on the road and hoping for it to be great and I'll be starting a full thread on it soon.

Site looks good! Just a thought.. if you put a Decked system in the back for secure keeping and water/dustproofing of your gear for the renters then that may provide alot of benefit like organization and security.

This thread is a long one, but check out @turbodb adventure and see if anything tickles your fancy. The guys story telling and photography are killer as well.

If that doesn't suit you just let me know and I'll get you additional information!

Thanks for the compliment. Constantly tweaking it slightly, but the main idea is there.

I do agree that that is a good idea. As the business grows and the trucks become more and more rental oriented I will definitely pursue upgrades like that. For now it is still small, with only a handful of rentals, but as time goes on that's a great idea.

I think the idea is cool but I couldn’t imagine with the insurance costs would be. I mean me personally... I’m not the easiest on rental cars and those ones stay on the road. What happens when someone totals your truck doing something they don’t have the skills in doing?

just asking because I do think the idea is cool

Insurance is a multi-step process. The customer is required to provide proof of full coverage insurance before they can drive away. No proof, no keys. Most major insurance companies automatically cover rental vehicles with a full coverage policy. I then have gen liability ($) and was able to find a company that provides backup commercial insurance ($$$) and I have to maintain personal insurance on all of the vehicles. It's definitely tricky, but doable. I have another business that is helping float all of these costs for now.

I hear a lot of people say that (not easy on rental cars), but the unanimous response thus far has been 'We took it really easy with this thing, even turned around when things got a bit too bumpy' type responses. They understand that their credit card and insurance is tied to the well-being of the vehicle. This makes people cautious. The type of person who will drop ~1200 dollars to 'live' out of a truck for 5 days tends to be vastly different than someone who would stick food trays under the rear tires of a $35/day Corolla to do donuts in a parking lot.

Not saying one will never get totaled, or damage won't occur, but there are measures in place to help keep the trucks value safe.

Yes, a Decked system would be a good addition to the truck for the gear and such.

Damn big moves, Mike. Planning to build another rig for yourself? I still want to do another r3v wheeling trip again, ideally near your neck of the woods.
