A while back I cut these wrench flats on this. Dude brought it back and wants to cut this old shaft 3” long and drill and tap the end to screw on the new one so he can lift his VW Jetta 3” and put bigger tires on it

Nice, I was gonna suggest some jack screws might be helpful with some rubber or plastic pads to help with chatter/squeal

I tried it first without the one, it was awful. I clamped it down on that one and turned the RPM up and walked away, it was pretty quiet.

    Welded a 3/8” x 1/2” coupling to a 3/8” rod 55” long for a 2 1/4” brush. It’s what the customer wanted.

Little engraving time this morning with a tiny center drill. These letters are 1/8” high and .005” deep.

I'm just curious, but why a center drill instead of a ball mill?

I've tried both, when the depth isn't that deep the outcome is about the same

Makes sense. I was just curious as I've never seen anyone use a center drill for engraving before

Making some more U tubes today, for these they wanted very tight inside radiuses. Bending them would have produced a larger inside corner radius so instead I cut them at 45° and welded them together. The tube is 6mm diameter and 1mm thick, so I used 1mm quartz rod to weld them which requires a light touch.
