Plan to do a fair amount of gravel/dirt road driving and want to reduce the potential rock chips down the side of the body.

Anyone use these and have feedback? Please post pics if you have them installed

These are universal fit right, meaning you have to cut them to shape and figure out the mounting system?

Wow - those look like they would do the job - but not looking good...

I am looking at the Rek Gen Taco specific flaps for that reason... They also make an extra large.

Do you know of a better product that doesn’t run me $$$? I have the TRD factory flares but they aren’t enough with the 265 tires. I have rock sliders on order that will come with the top plates so hopefully that reduced rock chips even more

These are my factory style, looking for more coverage than this because I can hear small rocks hitting the body of the truck

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
Oversize mud flaps are fine as long as you never back up in rough terrain or snow.
Otherwise make sure you use a break away mounting method.

¢ wise $ foolish in MHO. Expensive paint but cheap flaps. Makes no sense to me.

Good point, I will likely need different flaps for the sole reason of the ORM being rigid

One of the 2nd gen guys runs them on his double cab SAS Build. They look pretty nice.

As opposed to what some suggest, a mud flap is a piece of rubber not a golden nugget. More money doesn’t really equate to a better flap in most scenarios, though sometimes you get a little more rugged material.

You need more length, not width. Looking at the truck from the side, if you draw a straight line from the tire contact patch up to the bottom of the flap, the line reaches the bottom of the front door. If you had a longer flap, the line would have a shallower angle and reach further back. The 2nd gen OEM flaps were designed with this in mind, but people complained it would scrape on curbs, so Toyota made the 3rd gen flaps much shorter, at the expense of functionality.

AFAIK the longest drop-in flaps are RokBlokz XL, which is what I run in the front, but they're pricey. I've wheeled with them for two seasons with no damage, while the OEM rear flaps are torn:

If you want to spend less money and willing to do more work, get some 1/8" EPDM bulk rubber mat material (from Home Depot, Walmart, Tractor Supply...) and rivet extensions to the OEM flaps. You can also order the RokBlokz hardware kit and copy their design with bulk rubber mat material.
