Hello, I just bought a used snugtop cab hi in silver star silver to match my truck. I mean an amazing deal. Ow I want to put a prinsu toprac for a rtt but I called snugtop and they are saying they the static weight is 180lbs. I mean toprac is about 60lbs and my rtt is 140lbs and I weight 220.00, so that’s not going to work for me. Anyone has a cab hi snugtop that has an rtt on it or should I sell mine for like 1800.00 and add more money to get a reinforced one? It has almost every option on it. 27FD5C3C-BB3E-4011-8B69-48DAB4C33488.jpg

Are you sure they said the static weight is 180? Most companies will give you a weight limit, and that's almost always the dynamic weight. Outside of a RTT, there really isn't a reason to give people a limit on the amount of weight they can put up there while the truck is motionless. I would think their 180 number is the dynamic rating.

That being said, myself and many others have a RTT atop a cap. I wheel pretty hard and have not had any failures yet, and I stressed a lot over this before going with this setup.

That’s what I thought so I called and spoke to another person and both said the same thing 180 pound static wait unless you get the sportsman package make it up to 500 pounds.

Interesting. Did you ask about a dynamic rating? Like I said, that's the number anyone besides a RTT owner is going to really care about. I can only imagine it's less.

Honestly in your shoes, since you got such a good deal on the cap, I'd put the RTT on the truck. Whenever I stress about my RTT tearing apart my $2500 ARE I contemplate moving the tent over the cab. Should be zero concerns having it up there. And you already have the rack to put it on too.
