2021 TRD Off-Road Glass Breakage Sensor

I ordered a Toyota Tacoma Double Cab TRD Off-Road long bed auto before the 2021 had been released. My order was switched to a 2021 model. I request a Glass Breakage Sensor to be installed as part of the build. My dealer told me right up to the point the vehicle was built that he was trying to get an answer from Toyota about why he could not add the GBS to the build. After the vehicle was built I was told that there was no GBS part number for the TRD Off-Road long bed and that I would have to go after market instead which I really did not want to do as I have had many problems that way.
I also reached out to Toyota directly and asked if there was a GBS for this Vehicle and there answer was a “no’ with no explanation or any other information like, we don’t have one now but it is coming.

Does anyone know anything about the GBS for this model? I am new to Toyota so do not know how they normally operate - do they release vehicles and then release accessories afterwards?

Have you tried to "Build" a 2021 on ToyotaUSA's web site with the GBS? It may be listed buried in the details of whatever 'package' may include it. You'll have to try a few iterations to see what can be found.

If you can build one to match what you ordered AND if there's a package that has the GBS but it's not on your particular build, then I guess you're SOL. The Security System offered on the SR5 DC LB does include the GBS. It is possible to "build" a OR DC LB with the GBS but only if the Security System is included.

The dealers' tools for collecting together all possible combinations of packages is somewhat limited. Perhaps more so than what you can do on the web site.

 

Tacoma GBS is not installed at the factory. Port installed.

 

The GBS was included in the build I made using Toyota's website.

I believe the dealership said that the GBS was port installed or installed post build as MannyS said, thanks

 

If the GBS is not installed by the dealer, it can be done at home. The last thread that I saw on this, the person was able to just plug it in and found it to be functional without any programming.

 

Accessories are port or dealer installed. Accessory options vary by region.
