    Let's see them.

I finally convinced the wife to let me get a beater, so the Tacoma is getting ready to go into hibernation for the winter. I wound up with a 2002 CRV with 176k on it. I was not looking for a CRV specifically, but I seem to have stumbled across a pretty cool car. It passed inspection but I am tightening it up here and there with all new fluids, chasing a couple oil leaks, new control arms and a couple other odds and ends. These also came with a rear load floor that you could use as a table.

I would love to have a CRV with a manual transmission!

I don’t have a beater so I’m asking, you won’t drive your truck all winter? Why is that?

I drive my truck in the winter, but not when the roads are covered in snow and salt. That's why I bought my 1st gen TSX. I plan to drive the TSX in all conditions, but I want my Tacoma to last 50 years...lol

I got the CRV to avoid 3 things with my Tacoma-

    Short trips
    Road salt
Car payments (as in it should last a very very long time)

Mine is going up on jack stands soon. Gotta make it last. I'm 35, I think I can keep it the rest of my life.

heck ya to the short trips for beater use!
this is the underside to the 96 Corolla for short runs, 134k hard-beaten stop n go miles over 24 year period, especially in the winter when there is no snow (or has been plowed or artificially melted) on the roads that the taco is not necessary, but it has turned into a major rusted crapbox but the heater works well and A/C blows cold still, and the brakes work, although about 5 years ago a brake line ruptured due to rust while backing out the driveway, hopefully the fuel lines will not do the same :( ... still has the original starter and alternator

also had a fuel leak on top of the tank, most likely due to winter road salt way up on top of the tank, hopefully the JB weld patch will fix it
and now i woolWax the crap out of it hoping to attain the 'historical plate' status in my state :) 6 more years 2 go

jb weld patch smothered in WW

Sold my beater a few years ago. Trying to convince my lady to get a 4Runner so I can have her 2012 Focus for my errand car.

    Still thinking about it.
Now this is a new concept... I have heard of winter beaters for guys that want to keep their old muscle cars in for the winter, but parking a new 4x4 for the winter?! Not knocking you. I get it, but I enjoy using the shit out of mine in all weather. That’s kinda why I have it.. see how long it keeps up with my demands lol.

Of course, it’s no longer financed and I didn’t pay crazy money for it to begin with. I’m sure that matters too.

So, you’re telling me to buy this $200 93 Corolla wagon? Maybe I will. Stand by. 7E1697E5-25B7-4B07-95DA-4AC97FCC99B6.jpg9F96E47E-0097-4B17-BF13-9B85853AB585.jpg

I’ve been looking at it for a few months. Needs shifter bushing. She says it runs. Needs rockers and rear wheel opening work

The Tacoma is the beater, although it’s in excellent shape and the frame gets coated with wool wax and is only a year old. Mainly for my wife to drive on bad days since her BMW only sees nice weather and I drive my 5th gen 4runner daily. All three are garaged.
