I've searched high and low, and haven't found a comprehensive review on these skids. Forgive me if they are posted here somewhere and I didn't find it.

The reason I'm curious about Mobtown skids is because of the black friday sale. I know I want their sliders, so those are in my cart, but the discount really isn't that big unless I get skids too. Definitely makes it worth my while. Looking at the steel variant because the off-road park by me has tons of rocks (old mining area, Iron Range), but I don't plan on doing a ton of wheeling there. Mostly random roads when looking for camping spots. Maybe aluminum will do me fine, but was recommended steel by friends and what I've read on here that most people end up going steel anyways.

    Mods? Yes, oh yes..
steel slides, alum is soft and can feel like it grips rather than sliding. aluminum weighs 40pct of steel so depending on what you are doing with the suspension, you'll need a higher spring rate with steel.

And with that on top of sliders, I'm hearing that I'll need to get new springs, which will probably lead to also getting new shocks... I'd like not to do anything to the suspension, just want an added layer of security if I find myself in any hairy situation. Would I need to upgrade suspension with sliders?

The sliders are around 160 pounds w/o fill plates - basically like having another person in the truck. A full set of steel skids adds another 150 pounds. I ran their sliders and the front skid on my OR with no problem. BTW... highly recommend Mobtown, their products are top notch.

depends on how much weight you are carrying, the terrain and speed or if you add an armored front bumper and a winch etc. Its different for each truck.

Thanks for sharing! I'm wondering if I need a FULL set, or if I can get away with just an upgraded front. This is my daily driver, so I don't want to do anything super crazy, just be capable and relatively safe. I'm guessing I'll most likely be on low maintenance roads, forest service roads, etc.

My truck is mostly stock, the only real mod that I've done is gone a size up on tires. No bumpers, winch, or any other accessories. These (or this, if I just decide to go sliders and maybe pick up skids next year or something) would be my first big mods done to the truck. I know that I want sliders though that's a no-brainer, I'm just trying to figure out what and how much armor I want underneath I guess. Back to the drawing board for me!
