Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Been right there with ya. Been busy building my trail rig so haven’t been on here to check for updates in a few weeks. Still nothing then huh?

 

No, but apprantly you can buy vf tuner and actually add gear lock and all these other things into 2.0

 

The tune packs for vF tuner are the premade tunes. It’s exactly the same, just a different software.

 

Right but now i have to pay an extra 80 for something that was promised since the beginning.

 

so basically what im seeing is for all dates moving forward vf tune is needed? when i purchased my tune, part of the reason was “ free future updates” which i thought was awesome. so now it looks like i have to spend 80 for more software that only a shit pc uses ( no offence pc people). i would send an email but that would be 3-4 weeks before i got a response. tuning is too much drama.

 

It was a surprise, but you have to admit that we would all be in a different spot with the goons in the Dev thread throwing wrenches.

In the end, vF has been killer so far and looks to only get better.

It has gotten a lot better lately and these recent patches have made a big difference. Not toe mention the ability to make some very individualized tunes. I'm have a couple things in there that no one else wants. Hahaha!

 

I have not tried yet, but I'm pretty sure you can load the .vft files with the original flash manager. Of course you have to get your hands on those files. Also Matt has mentioned he's changing how the files are distributed. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet. I have the feeling we'll get answers to a lot of things in the next week or 2.

 

Sorry, but you can only flash VFT files with the vF software.

 

Nope. The flash will fail using the software bundled with flash manager. I’ve tried.

 

I take it back, had to check for myself, it goes through the whole process, but fails validation. Well, hopefully Matt will come up with a way to keep supporting the flash manager peeps.

 

Anyone who has an OVtune flash kit registered can download Vftuner (for free) and use the VF flash tool (included in the program files) to flash .vft tune files.
You just can’t use Vftuner to edit .vft files unless you pay for Vftuner and tune packs.

Your OVtune registration covers the flash tool in Vftuner.

I basically know what this is saying, but still sounds like a legal disclaimer Lol.

 

When you download Vftuner, it is put in a folder. In that folder is a vf flash tool. You can use that flash tool. It looks just like the flash tool in OVtune. And works the same way. And Yes, it uses the same registration key.

 

I don't have direct knowledge there. Coming from the Flash Kit, getting a license, and then finally editing files much later, I experienced it differently than other folks. I do know that I tried to flash a VFT file with FM unsuccessfully in the past.

 

I was reluctant at first to get Vftuner, so I reached out to Mat. He gave me this info.
It works.

 

It is okay if you see it a different way, but we are still getting support. It is just that 2.0 releases and new ECU IDs, including TSBs, will be vF only.

 

At first, I was doubtful that it would be a benefit. Now, I think it fills out the setup perfectly.

 

VFtuner has been very, very good to me. I would recommend it.
But I do understand that some people don't want to spend the time to learn how to use it.
I think we will be able to keep those people happy with our tuning service.
