I want to fit a 35" spare while keeping mild performance in mind. Thoughts/Ideas?

I’m pretty stoked on it. We’ll see how long that lasts. It has to be better than what I’m doing now so the expectation is pretty low.

planning on making it somewhat modular so I can carry two spares if I feel so inclined. Don’t think I’ll ever NEED two but part of the fun is creating something from nothing.

I mean there was that one time you drove for several miles in the desert before you realized you cut a tire

Now that’s not fully true. I knew something was off. It just took a couple miles to figure out what it was.

And that was only one spare.

That was at the beginning of the adventure, it effectively ended your ability to shenanigan. And now that you have big boy tires you can't borrow from your friends.

Been a couple weeks since any updates on the bed rack. The main structure has been built and the tire is now secure. Working on the layout of all other accessories now.

I’m open to ideas/opinions on the layout. Trying to keep the build as practical as possible and optimize the space.

Last one for today. Spent some time playing with different layouts for the additional accessories. Decided to make the Jerry can holder modular as it’ll be used the least amount of all of the features im building into this rack. The holder will be held on by 4 bolts with two additional crossmembers being added to the main structure. the can holder will be elevated to fit the tool box underneath.

also, if anyone has a plasma table and wants to cut out a new front plate that says #PelfreyBroke on it I will take the time to cut this one out and replace it.

What I ended up doing is throwing my spare tire on top of my bed cover and pushing all way to the back. I made a bed rack so the spare tire fits in between. I’m thinking about changing my bed cover to the lomax and getting a 14” KBvoodoo Bedrack.

Spent some time the past two weekends working on the bed rack some more. It has been holding the tire and tool box with success the past few months but I've got a trip this week and need extra fuel/water. Re-worked what I thought was bad measurements on the fuel can supports to realize the fuel can holder itself wasn't square and was causing my issue.

I modified the holder and it now fits like a glove! Also, spent a little extra time and got the floor jack mounted up and secure. The rack is now 90% complete but is ready for this weeks adventure!

Mocking the floor jack up. It's the smaller 1.5 ton HB special mounted using a Stewarts Raceworks mount. :bikewhoops:

3k!? Who's bumper are you looking at!?

The Brute Force with dual swingouts looks to cost around 2k. Have you looked at options from Coastal Offroad?

    https://www.coastaloffroad.com/product-page/3rd-gen-tacoma-high-clearance-rear-bumper-kit/

Nvm, they're dual swingout kit is around $1800 and you'd have to pay labor to get it welded.

Just add safety chain to the tire so when the swing out brakes off you don't loose the tire...

i was wondering why you put the spare on the driver side? driver plus gas tank on that side. for some reason i thought you had bed bars and a rtt low as the roof line in the bed. i didn't realize it was a gfc. i have been running the superlite because of cog. i want to do what vin did but i always ave motos in the bed when i camp. i like what you did looks tidy and works.
edit the tire on the passenger side blocks your view. got it

I run pizza cutter 35's and managed to stuff it in the stock location by moving the hoist slightly and cutting the exhaust... I dig it as it keeps the weight low and centered and the tire out of my way. Not likely an option for the dudes running them more meaty 35's though.

Added the anytime backup camera (by the license plate). I bypass the factory tailgate one when the swing out is on.
Best thing about it I can take the spare/carrier on and off whenever I please.
