Thanks, this forum in general has made me financially irresponsible. So many things I didn’t know I needed lol I think there are some good shops in the area, I’ll try to pop in some of them to talk with them and see what they have

If you go to bow shop ask to shoot a bunch of different bows. Don't look at the price. You might be surprised to find the bow that is the most comfortable to shoot is not the latest and greatest high dollar bow. Too many reviews in magazines read real nice until the price is listed. Find what you like.

I've had one expensive top name new bow in my life. I missed just as good with it as I have the cheapest one I had. It doesn't matter what you shoot, it's how you shoot

You're right, last one I shot with a bow I was pulling 51 pounds.

Yep buddy of mine is rocking a matthews that is old as the trees he shoots from.. Still kills more deer than anyone i know

His actually exploded on him right before we went to Montana for our elk hunt and he took it in for repair.. tried to talk him into a newer bow but he politely declined haha

I had a Matthews Switchback, I liked it but it was 70 pounds and I got to where I couldn't pull it back anymore because of my neck (3 bulging disc). Went to a buddy's who owns a small bow shop and I now have an older Bear that goes from 15-70 lbs. with the turn of a screw. It's what I shot a nice 8 pt. with last year.

Thanks for the advice ya’ll. I probably couldn’t pull a 70# bow lol. I’m in agreement, like with so many other things, the operator is far more important than the tool (as long as the tool functions properly). Mighty generous of you @1buzzbait , not sure I’ll be getting down to Maryland anytime soon though... A quick search found a number of shops around me so I’ll make the rounds and try some out (won’t look at price) to see what my draw length and weight is and what feels good

a fellow TW member helped me find a used Hoyt Carbon Element G3 on a FB archery buy and sell page. I think it was $400 shipped and ready to hunt. I didn't have enough time to get good enough to use it this year. I'll try next year.

The draw weight is at 61lbs. I start to struggle a little around my 8-10th arrow. I think I'm just going to strengthen up instead of tuning it down.

newb question. my sights are maxed out and still hitting low at 20 yards. What should I do here? I had my D knot fail on me and I retied it. Then I was thinking.. can I move the D knot slightly to get my sights on?

I was just kidding Dan. I just got back from Waupaca County, sat 11 hours Saturday and Sunday then 4 hours this morning.Only saw two bucks and their racks combined wouldn’t add up to one beam on the buck you shot sitting 15 minutes.:( And no I don’t have any EXTRA antlers laying around!!! If our condo starts on fire the first thing I’m saving is my deer racks. Nobody’s getting those babies.:D

Your D loop should stay square with your rest. Otherwise your arrows are gonna come off crazy.
