    Hello everyone! I am dumb. I set a friend's earring on the dashboard.... and it preceded to roll down into the very middle of the defroster vent. Since it is a small pearl earring, there is no chance a magnet could retrieve it. Has anybody ever had to retrieve something similar from the defroster vent or know where it might have rolled to? I have a strong feeling I will have to take apart my dash, but if anybody knows any other options, please let me know.

    If you have a small boroscope camera,(or find someone who does) you could insert the camera into the duct to see if you can see the earring, and then use a set of mechanical fingers to retrieve it. I would do this b4 taking dash apart

    You might try snaking a vacuum hose in from the blower housing. Put a nylon sock over the end. The vac might find your earring and the nylon sock will catch it preventing it from entering the vac bag.

    You might need to juryrig an attachment on the hose to snake it into the duct work.

    Other Options.
    Take the dash apart.
    Buy another pair of earrings

    An empty (& clean) shop vac with a piece of fuel line or something on the end, along with a boroscope sounds like the way to go

    Boroscope camera and a flexible magnet with a piece of sticky tape on the end?

    I am curious to learn of the "real" story behind the earring loss. I suspect it was some kind of sex in the truck

    Which way do I go....? Boroscope, colonoscope...

    Having seen and been on the receiving end of a colonoscope; I vote for this. It's like a friggin Swiss army knife. Light, air, vacuum, camera, snips and grips. All in a convenient 15 or so footlong cable!

    :rofl::rofl:o_Oo_O:rofl:
