First time Tacoma owner

Purchased a 2017 Tacoma SR5 double cab 6ft bed this week. I’m an urban dweller that spends his free time in the woods. Ive wanted a truck for over a decade but never pulled the trigger. I went to pick up one of my maintenance teams transits from the shop and there was beautiful Silver Tacoma on the lot. I had a 2016 VW Tiguan that I purchased a year old that was a rental. It still had low miles 54k. I asked about the trade in price and it was only ~$4k less than I paid for it. It was nice chunk of the price of the truck. After a quick call home I was emptying out my VW. 2 mistakes were made. First I just put new tires on the VW. It would have been nice to save the cash. They helped the trade in a bit but I wonder how much. Oh well. 2nd mistake was being drunk with excitement and not having a second set of eyes. While crawling all over the truck I convinced myself it was the 5ft bed. I confirmed the length via my phone for the 5ft. Now I was super excited it fit in my garage. I parked at my office lot. Got out looked at the truck and it sunk in that it was the 6ft bed and will not fit into my garage. Good thing we have a construction division where I work. So my first mod is not to the truck its to my garage.

Perfect reason to expand the garage, “Honey, I thought the new truck would fit!”

But don’t be hasty. If you’re going to expand it, look around here and get some ideas !!!

Thank you for the links and the welcomes. Heading out this morning for pheasant hunt. I’m looking forward to the long drive almost if not more than the hunting. Also had a great time with my Father in law yesterday. He picked up a new Subaru Forester. While thanksgiving will be different this year. It was pretty cool to pop hoods yesterday, talk cars and have a beer.
Gator Bed cover is on its way. Picked up rubber floor mats from dealer they had a sale and they were in stock.
