After a long search I found my dog at the kitsap humane society. Normally it’s a $150 adoption fee but they were doing some sort of special (at a Subaru dealership) and it was $50 off. Dogs get adopted pretty quickly around here. Pre covid there were lines out of the shelters in the mornings, not sure what it’s like now. Good luck, hope you find the perfect dog.

I have looked on petfinder, rescues and so forth, the non profit I am working with, (cascade service dogs) requires strict criteria. Figured I would post here to see if anyone knew a breeder or what not. I appreciate the input

I have a 4 year old chocolate that is the best dog. Crazy awesome tempered, just a love and driven dog. We hunt him and he loves to work and please. My coworker at the time got his litter mate and has had a great experience as well. Id recommend the breeder and the pricing was ridiculously affordable. Dogs are UKC but not AKC, but lots of certs and hunt tests and stuff in bloodline.

My wife has the ladies number although cant find business page. She was in Olympia, if you want a number to give them a try shoot me a PM.

My better half has been volunteering at our local dog shelter, Adopt a Pet here in Shelton, for over a year now. We have had our Husky since she showed up there last November.

They get 3-4 new dogs every week and there are some there right now that seem very trainable. Think we paid around 200. Adopt a Pet gets all their dogs vet checkup, spay and neuter before adopting, its a great organization if you're in the area. Keep up on the search and you'll surely find the perfect companion!

@vorkuta775 did you ever find a dog? My wife works closely with a Portland dog rescue and it has been a crazy year for them. I know rescues and shelters in Portland are all operating at different capacities because of Covid. Looks like some good resources were listed above. You might check shelters/humane societies in smaller towns in central WA/OR. They have a harder time adopting out than PDX and Seattle. I had a friend get a great dog from Umatilla, OR.
Also, be patient with veterinary care. Most vets are booking out many weeks, or more. A lot of people got new pets and the veterinary world is having a hard time keeping up.

I never did. Most of the breeders I found with litters charge an arm and a leg. Service dogs seems to be a margin of profit rather than trying to actually help veterans . It's kinda Bs. Not a single breeder was willing to work with me on the price.

That sucks. Kinda shows where the breeder's motivations lie. You might try reaching out to a few breed specific rescues and tell them what you're after. I know they all have visibility on more dogs than they can bring in. So they may see a dog that fits your needs that they may otherwise pass up. Happy to try to help you if I can.

I will let you know, I reached out to a 501c in wa state that gives fully training service dogs to wounded/disabled vets, I sent them my application in.

What do you consider an arm and a leg? The breeder/ litter i sent you is far from that in the world of Labs so just curious your threshold in case anyone else has any connections.
