Just wondering if anyone out there has a cat back exhaust system on their 2015 taco. I'd like to toss one on mine but I'm definitely not going to fork over $400 for an exhaust system that isn't recommended and won't be useful and sound pretty>>

I had it on my 2015 for about 1 week, drone inside at specific rpm was to much and I sold it and put my original exhaust back on.

I snagged a used TRD Exhaust off a local member for a paltry $125. Worth every penny. I honestly couldn't tell you if it made a lick of difference performance wise, it probably didn't. It does sound really good to me. The note is deep and mellow, not extremely loud but it gives the exhaust a "sportier" sound. I even get a little rumble when coasting in gear. If you want loud and obnoxious this is not the exhaust for you. I don't know who builds this system for Toyota but they nailed it. A lot of the aftermarket exhausts for the 4.0 sound raspy and high.

I love the sound. There isn't much drone, but keep in mind at highway speeds I'm revving more than an auto because 6th gear is still a little low. For driving this has been one of the better mods I've made as being able to hear the engine makes shifting that much smoother.

I've got one on my 2011 and a TRD intake. I get a low sometimes noticeable drone maybe at 2200 rpm or 75mph.

Curious how many drone issues are access cab vs double cab.

I think im seeing a trend with flowmasters atleast.

As for trd... meh, nust throw a muffler on stock pipe, u wont see or hear a bit of difference over that vs something stamped "trd" thats already been on the shelf for decades under the REAL manufacturers name. Iirc it used to be gibson or bosal.

Go to a muffler shop.... ask them to clamp on 3 or 4 mufflers 1 at a tims that may meet the sound u think u want. Tell them to NOT share the brand, but allow u to start the truck and throw a rev.

Then buy with your ears, and Find out the brand LATER after you paid.

This may not replicate any possible drone sound as the truck wont be under load, but it should be better than youtube videos as the playback will not mirror actual sound 100%, sometimes not even a fraction. The mic on the phone, or camera used to take the video may not be able to capture the sound well, especially the low frequency.... even then, keep in mind watching onnur phone, laptop, desktop, or home stereo will also color the sound, as well as any eq settings you have.

Buy with your ears in person

I’ve done some digging and found a response or two but before I drop $400 I would like some direct confirmation. I have a 2013 DCSB and the it seems that at the moment 2nd gen TRD exhaust is only available in AC and DCLB. Cannot find a model specifically for DCSB, called the dealership and there are none available nationwide.
The AC part number is PTR3135131. Will this model fit my DCSB without modification? The dealer site says it fits a DC but doesn’t specify if it’s the short or long bed. Dealership parts guy was clueless. My thinking is the TRD exhaust for the AC and DCSB should be compatible. Thoughts, and many thanks!

If it fits an AC, it'll fit a DCSB as they're functionally the same. The DCLB is the odd-ball, and requires a longer "mid-pipe".
