This pass weekend, clocked just over 700 miles.

First night, coyote flats, at 10k feet, it took alittle getting used to.image000000(1).jpg20201018_121603.jpg2nd night was at Alabama hill. Very interesting, too bad the smoke rolled in.
20201019_110452.jpg 20201018_160445.jpg image000002(1).jpgand on the way home we stopped by Kavanaugh
Ridge at 11k feet it was a sight to see.

We had planned to camp at Lake Fausse Pointe in the Atchafalaya Basin this weekend. Didn’t go to plan, mosquito swarms were the worst we’ve seen in Louisiana in our lives (bad enough to kill livestock). We did get to test the roof basket/awning setup and it’s rock solid on the interstate. Need to work on waterproofing a few things in the bed, maybe next trip out will be better.

Awning bolted to roof basket. Can remove the whole thing as an assembly from the OEM roof rack.

On the way out, full of excitement.

Crushed, leaving the campsite after breaking camp in the rain, pint low on blood each. All three of us covered in mosquito bites.

Beautiful, is this Alabama Hills? Looking to start camp more locally and this looks epic, thanks!

Spent a weekend in our tent on site with my parents in their camper. I’m thinking this might’ve been the last hoorah for our old tent, woke up with a lake inside and have a broken tent pole. Good times in spite of it all.

...An hour or so after we set out for the morning, we finally broke through the thickest of trees and into a high-mountain meadow - views of Pearl Pass rising up before us and terrain becoming more rocky under our tires. As if we hadn't stopped enough already, Monte quickly slowed in the lead vehicle and soon we were all out admiring the first real pass that we'd conquer on this trip....
