Anyone here in the mid Atlantic up for the MABDR? I’ve been looking at it and considering doing a section or two of it once it warms up in late spring.

I imagine it rides very smooth for a cruiser, but I'm not a big fan of the style.

Anyone have experience installing new handle bars on their Harley ?

    my new apes are here...

    Seems straight forward.

Remove front controls ( throttle, brake, etc )
Remove old bars from digital riser gauge.
Disconnect old wiring and install new longer wires.
Attempt to thread new wiring through the new bars.
    Tighten everything down.

    ???

Any input would be great. I’ve heard it’s an easy install with the new ape bars / FXBB model... but then I’ve heard it’s the worst thing ever and it takes 8-10 hours.

use fishing line/mechanics wire to help with fishing wires through bars. Take pics of connectors in case you need to de-pin. Although, my sportsters, I never went with internal wiring.

Do you have ABS? I did it 2x times with my Sportsters with ABS, and they were never the same as stock. I tried using a syringe from the caliper going up, and the normal bleeding process.

Its not that bad. I think with external wires, it took me 1-2 hours and that was taking my time/consuming adult beverages. Once you disassemble, you will see how things go back together. And hopefully not run into any issues. Are you keeping the original grips?

    Thanks man.

I haven’t ordered new grips but I just might actually.

    Edit: No Abs

It took you 2 days to do the exhaust so I’m guessing this is a 3 day task for you :anonymous:

if you dont do new grips, then you would have to be careful/use air to blow the glue out from inside the stock ones.. and that is annoying. I think new grips arent that expensive, and then you can either leave it on there, or cut it off - which is more fun

I think I paid 50 for my grips. I love em. Way better than stock. Plus I can get new rubbers for them in whatever color too when these wear out

This is for a Sporty....but I would guess essentially the same process. As far as extended lines and running thru bars and all...

    great vid.

With my bars... I have no extended cables from the outside, works with the stock ones.. It’s all internal. So I’ve order a few wire extensions.

Seeing that video ( spark noted it / jumped through it ). I think mine may be easier
