The funny thing is my Dad didn't work in one, my doc thought it was odd because he said it mainly happened to those workers

:santa: :santa2: Took the truck for a spin tonight and stopped at the McDonalds in Plumstead Township to satisfy a case of the munchies; The whole staff at the McDonalds LOVED my Christmassy truck, and the manager ended up summoning like three of his employees to the drive-thru window just to take a look!

    I will never forget this...

In the spring of 1998 (sometime in April, I believe) parents left me with my grandparents in Pennsylvania while they went house hunting in Virginia Beach; A couple times during the roughly one week I was there, I hung out with my uncle and his family.

The family vehicle at the time was a brand new 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4, white with a gray cloth interior. We went shopping at a wholesale club one evening and on the way home my two girl cousins said there was this song I just had to hear. Backstreet Boys was put in the cassette player, and I ended up listing to “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” over and over until we got home...

    :annoyed:

My uncle has had over 100 cars since he first got his driver’s license over 40 years ago (he turned 16 in October 1977 so he got it sometime between then and early 1978); Most of them have been muscle cars and other classic cars, but he’s also owned a few pickup trucks. The nicest family car he ever bought for his wife was a brand new 1991 Volvo 240 sedan, paid for in cash ($27,000)! My uncle initially bought an aqua green 1995 Jeep Cherokee that was supposed to be the new family car; He special ordered it with 2WD, a manual transmission, and every option. The problem was that it was a 2-door and my aunt didn’t like that. He sold it to my grandpa after owning it for less than a year (he paid cash for Jeep too). A leased 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, red in color, replaced the Volvo; In 1998, a white but otherwise nearly identical Grand Cherokee replaced the red one.

My uncle normally never got 4WD, but both of these Jeeps were incredibly good deals; Both if the Jeeps were probably the cheapest Grand Cherokees you could get, too...

They had A/C (which I’m pretty sure was standard by then), power everything, and a cassette player, but that was about it; They had cloth seats, no CD player, and no sunroof.

A blue 2000 Dodge Durango SLT, specially ordered by my uncle with 2WD but also leased, replaced the white Jeep; My uncle describes the Durango as a having been a total piece of shit. He traded it for a blue Honda Pilot in 2003, and that was the family car until the oldest of his daughters went to college in 2007; The Pilot started out as a lease, but I my aunt and uncle ended up liking it so much that I think they bought it outright. My uncle has leased at least four vehicles, but has always paid cash for the ones he bought.

That Durango is just basically an enclosed Dakota right?

Yup, and my uncle hated it because among other things it rode like a truck!

Brother had a Durango for about a week. Hated at and got rid of it and I forgot what he got after.

The fastest I ever ever got rid of a vehicle was a 2006 Cadillac CTS. Five days later I got rid of it and bought a Mercedes. I hated the Cadillac

Yeah, but this Durango was a brand new, not a cobbled together wreck with a salvage title; The Dakota at least has an excuse!

The A/C in the Durango quit multiple times on the first big road trip!

Thought I liked the looks of it but turns out I didn’t. It was an impulse buy. I didn’t like the interior either. I needed a car and it was on the lot so I bought it. Returned and took a hit. Yea I bought it new it had 218 miles on it when I traded it in
