I know that there is a ton of information here but it all seems to be pretty dispersed across multiple threads. Anyone have a recommendation for YouTube channels, websites, or threads here to learn the basics of off road recovery? I’m a beginner off roader and want to learn about what recovery gear to use for different situations, recovery points on the vehicle, etc.

I subscribe to Matt’s offroad recovery. I think what stands out the most is what can be accomplished with a strap and another vehicle. A lot of people like to mount winches and spend hundreds on synthetic lines, pulleys and gear. He uses a strap 95% of the time.

I have a few 30’ straps, shovel, and traction boards. I’d start with those items and make sure you know how to use them before your stuck for real!
I like the aussie guy who pretty popular (forget the channel), but definitely watch videos and also follow along with your equipment/ truck so you get actual hands on practice!
Nothing beats having to use them, being 2wd and going to the sand dunes make me learn quick. I also try and help people when I can, for good juju and also more real experience.
