I have to agree. I had 2 pre Tacoma 4 bangers that had serious low end grunt. Not sure about the new stuff though.

Pretty sure Mat is close to a tune for the 2.7L. If it was a second vehicle for chores, I would have considered the 4. But it’s my daily and I need to run with Texas highway traffic when commuting.

That’s what makes me laugh... the 4 runs with the Big Dogs on the highway all day; all damn day. (I laugh when they stop for fuel- maybe I’ll fill up tomorrow but probably not. Last Saturday I was at 1/4 tank... I still haven’t filled up and this is Wednesday

Buy new. It’ll save headaches in the long run. I wouldn’t want something used and “modded” and have to make payments on it. I rather build my own how I like with what I like. With the incentives, you should have some peace of mind. I enjoy going to dealerships and squeezing out a deal as much as I can. Shop at least 3 dealers with numbers in your pocket before doing anything. Either way, 4 or 6, it’ll be a fun build. Good luck and post pics once you buy lol

Oh I’m sure it’ll outdistance mine on a tank. and I have nothing against the 4 other than it just can’t accelerate or pull like the 6. If it was just set and forget, sure. But it’s on-ramps and up/down between 55 and 85. I average about 18.5mpg with a mix of city driving and 80+ highway. I’m guessing the 4 would be 2-3 mpg better.

I’ll agree too that sometimes it’s more fun to drive a slow car than a fast car slow.

Getting flipped the bird by gray hairs takes some getting used to. They cannot believe someone is actually driving slower than their dead grand mother and SHE was slow!

I flipped my daily driver from a Macan S to my Taco. Definitely had to change my expectations. As soon as you set your mental rhythm and pace to match your vehicle, it’s all good.

Right on. I actually knew exactly what I was getting into having driven an 84 Nissan 720 2wd KC for 11 years and 300k. It takes 32 seconds to get to 5 gear but again it will run with the bearded freaks in their Fords and Dodges all day.

I've got a 2.7 manual with 414,000 miles, been a GREAT truck. Also have a '18 TRD Sport 6cly which is also been a great truck so far.
My recommendation would definitely be to buy new.

    I have air conditioning. The 84 didn’t. I’m good

Sharp! Whatcha running for flaps? I’ve been debating for the Taco. I bought a set of OEM for my wife’s new Disco and I love the material. Just flexible and rigid enough at the same time. Problem is I’ve been too chicken to put the rears on. Instructions have you putting a hole in the lower quarter panel.
