I just bought a 2021 TRD off-road long bed. I traveled about 300 miles to pick it up. To my surprise after I got home. The bottom portion of the paint in front of the bed is all pitted up. Only 300 miles, I guess the paint is just too soft. Anybody else have this problem with their long bed?

Looks like the paint protection is just a bit dirty.

Get yourself a set of OEM mud guards. They do the trick to help mitigate this.

Its hard to tell from the pictures, but those areas appear to have the protective film on them to save the paint.

Yes, the factory clear bra and black fender flares took most of the hit. I was just surprised it pitted like that after 300 miles. I just order mud flaps or Amazon.

Check out self healing 3M paint protection film. Get the factory crap off and have the other installed. Change it up like satin, matte, maybe black or green

minor, TRD skid plate, front recovery points, Regken mud flaps, rear diff breather, AC drain pipe extended. Upgraded sound with active sub woofer, tonneau cover, CB radio.
Like someone said before, order a set of OEM mudflaps, or if you planning wheeling/offroading/dirtroading - set of flexible mudflaps,
like RekGen. Works like magic, and strange your 2021 comes without mudflaps at all.

That's just the texture of the paint on the lower parts. Many cars and trucks have this.

As stated by others, get your self some mud flaps. Tacomas kick up a ton of rocks, much more than any other truck I have owned. But also remember that your paint is still pretty fresh, my truck got all sorts of chips in the first month, the paint has since hardened and is much stronger.

    Still thinking about it.
You all seem to worry a lot about little stuff like that. I guess that’s because of the money involved. I get it. Might as well just get some trail damage and get on with life haha...just kidding.

Are you saying those 1000 little white spots are all chips? Or are you referring to the roughened texture on the bottom of the rockers? Not really enough detail op to make a determination here.

Im guessing he means the white dots as they are all over the flares too and in the first picture you can actually see the pits more than just white spots.

Any chance you could take some more detailed pictures, something isn't right here. The impact areas are the same color on the black plastic? As the paint? Have you tried taking some detailing spray and a microfiber cloth and just doing a wipe.

Yes, I will take better pictures tomorrow when I wash it. It’s all pitted up, you can feel the chips with your hands and it’s not something polish can get off. Like I said that factory clear bra did it’s job. There are some chips outside the clear bra area but very little. I bought mud flaps and that should help. I’m just a bit surprise cause that is just one 300 mile drive back home from the dealer in Oregon. Oh well, I’m not worried about it as this is my daily driver. Just caught me off guard a little. Also, this could be a long bed thing as my 2019 short bed didn’t have this problem. The longer bed has this extra one foot area in the lower front of the bed. Just a thought.

Are you sure that doesn't wipe off? The black plastic moulding is the give away - it doesn't seem like it would look like that if they were pitted... Light colored Pitts? I don't think so. Light bouldered paint (or similar) - maybe. My black plastic moulding are pitted a little from years of off-roading but they look different. Something isn't right here and the black plastic is telling us something.

Were the 300 miles gravel roads?

No, it was a two lane highway. It did rain for about 150 miles of it.
