Do we have any data directly comparing the best performing stock-wattage bulb against the best performing increased-wattage bulb?

All the output charts in the original post. Philips Racing Vision +150 have yet to be beat for stock wattage, and the Osram 100/90w Superbrights are the current best high wattage bulb presently available. While the peak output looks close in these charts, the overall output of the Osram's will be greater, that is to say they will offer more light through the pattern. The high beams on the Philips will have reduced output due to blue coatings over the high beam filament. The 100W high beam on the Osram's are the nuclear option that will exceed HID output when combined with the HD harness.

Ah yes duh, thank you. Do you happen to have any data on the lux increase in stock-wattage bulbs when a conventional harness is added?

Time for some DD SS3s then!??

Edit: Ugh, I just watched the SS3 MAX go from $500 to $520 on their website.

Mathematically in theory I believe it comes out to roughly a 10% increase, but when I tested it I recall it being slightly higher. I did a post somewhere in here on it.

The high power headlight upgrade will overpower the fogs, especially the 05-11 fogs which are very weak to start with. The SS3 is definitely the way to go, remarkably impressive products. I don't ever recall seeing the Max at $500, but they do have 15% off for black Friday going on now.

I didn't think they were that bad. They were at least much better than previous vehicle's foglights :notsure:. Are they worse than the 12-15 foglights?

12-15 and 16-19 TRD are nearly 3x the output of 05-11, however the pattern is also much wider as they are Toyota's 'wide angle TRD' fogs. So even though the output is 3x higher the peak intensity is not 3x higher.

I had 9005 bulbs in mine vs the original 9145. When I bought the 4Runner, the fogs with H16s almost seemed non-existent.

Definitely higher output then compared to the H16s, but the 9005s lack a forward glare cap on the bulb for use in an open reflector.

Why is that? HIR bulbs put the filament in exactly the same place as halogens.

Common tactic. Friday/Monday sale wouldn't generate as much income if they didn't raise the "MSRP" before offering a discount.
