I am looking for a hard cover. I would like the factory version but I do not like my local dealer. They quoted 1932.39 just for the cover and parts no install. Does that seem high? Any other recommendations on hard covers? I need something I can lock and that is water proof. Thanks!!

Go with, bakflip or undercover (same company Truck hero). With these you get full bed access and is cheaper than what you were quoted.
Also install it yourself, I installed mine by myself it took about 45 min. The instructions are straight forward.

Edit: Also these are not lockable but the latch is inside the bed. as long as your tailgate is locked you should be fine. In regards to waterproof tonneau covers, no covers are 100% waterproof but my undercover ultraflex you get some water around the tailgate when in the car wash.

    + 1 On a Bakflip.

I have a Bakflip MX4 and love it, especially the low profile.

I would keep mine but I just ordered a shell, so it’s got to go.

As previously stated , they don’t lock but I have a pop n lock on the tailgate, so have never really worried about my gear in the back.

It's 650 on toyotas build website. I'll drive anywhere to install that cover for you for 1900$. 1300$ profit sounds pretty good on my end.

Sounds about right, it has to be ordered piece by piece for the dealer to source it as opposed from the factory, hence the price. As mentioned most of the aftermarket covers are super easy to install yourself and should only run you $600-1000 and way better quality. OEM is trash, it fades in the sun, plastic pieces galore that break apart, heavy, not as functional and not waterproof. My 17 and 20 came with one, I immensely removed, sold them and replaced with aftermarket.

That's the price from the factory, to buy each piece to assemble it and install at the dealer its ALOT more, reason for OPs cost.

Holy shit that's a lot of money for a tonneau. I bought an ARE hard shell tonneau and that was 600 cause it was used and different color but you could lock it.

I sold it and got a black undercover classic hard cover for less than a G. You have to locks on each side so its "secure" . they also installed it

No they aren't, sure its only a $650 option when done at the factory, but the dealer actually has to order each piece individually and it adds up. There's a few threads on it, when they first came out guys were wanting to order one and dealers were either saying can't be done or giving them quotes in the $1200 range because each piece is individually ordered, brackets, panels, screws, etc.

Got it listed in your regional forum and the 3rd gen parts for sale forum?

Shouldn't last long in one of those.

Yep, $650 if ordered. Mine didn't have one when delivered and the dealer quoted $1,295 installed.

I have a BakFlip. Went for around 1k after taxes. Most diamondbacks are "water resistant" not exactly waterproof. However, I think Diamondbacks are waterproof if you dont care for the "slim" look.

That’s a lot of money for a factory cover which is nice, but there are much better alternatives for less $$. Other dealers could get it for cheaper if you’re dead set on going with the factory cover

Exactly. You can always find used tonneau covers for less than a third of that price.
