There’s no such thing as a deal on black Friday on a Tacoma other than finding one in stock that you want

My niece sells Toyotas and tells me you can get their best deal any time of the year. All the flashy sales are just pomp and fanfare to get you in the door.

Very true. Even if they want to take a shot at financing it when you go in pre approved like I did if they can't match or beat the credit deal you secured you still have your financing ready to go.

Don't be afraid to walk away if you aren't getting what you think is a fair deal. Or do like i did email sales managers from several dealerships. Lay out what you want, be flexible with a few colors and accessories. Tell them how about how much you have to put down, about your trade and when you are looking to close a deal so they know you are serious, ask for their most competitive price.

Really the best time is when they are flush with inventory, sales have been slow, it’s end of quarter or end of model year.

None of that is this week except for end of month and the Toyotathon marketing. Doesn’t apply much to Tacomas.

Inventory is low and EVERYONE is worried about what is in store for the economy.

That's the problem. Most dealerships aren't filled with inventory these days. These trucks will sell and it seems folks are still looking for them. Not every one is out of work but supply and demand still is close on in demand models.

Look at my avatar. Look at it really close. I will get a better deal any day of the week than any black Friday , Presidents day. End of the month, end of the year deals. Go in prepared after doing your homework and knowing already exactly what you want and what you want to pay. Ask for the sales manager and tell him you want to work directly with him. If he says he can't and you must work with the salesman say thanks but no thanks and walk out. Never ever give them your license or credit card unless you are prepared to be held hostage. Never ever ever ever give them your real phone number or email. Make a Gmail ahead of time with a phone number and email and that's what you give them. Watch how quickly that brand new email that only you and the dealer has fills up with spam. If you do not get what you want. Walk. Be polite but FIRM. They will 100% call you back.

That’s pretty much my method but the price comes from the sales mgr or gm on email long before I set foot in a dealer. Same with trade-in. Firm estimate over email before it is driven onsite.

I have the full deal in writing before I get there. Two of the last three vehicles were 30 minutes spent in the dealer.

Solid trades and cash are still king. I might finance 15-20k to throw them that bone, but I pay it off in six months.

My next deal might get done Monday on a loaded 2021 OR.

Cash is king but never tell the dealer you are paying cash if that's your plan. Always tell them you will be financing through them. Once you make the deal and you are sitting with the finance guy then you hit him with you are paying cash. If you lead them to believe you are financing through them they will see dollar signs in their head and be more willing to give you the deal you want thinking they will be jamming you without the lube in the financing.

Inventory is still tight. Unless you need a vehicle today; wait.
