    Hi All,

Newb here but was wondering if anyone was running into the same issue as I am. I have aftermarket hood struts installed and with the SP and PowerTray installed, it prevents the good from closing. The struts sit behind the SP. As a temporary fix, I added some brackets to lower the SP-9100 so the hood would close.

@Mr.PowerTrays Do I have the wrong version of the tray? In an earlier post, you mentioned that you moved the placement inward to account for the struts.

Last question, should the support leg have the "L" shape attached to the fender or the tray?

    Thanks,
    RJ

Shoot! thanks for the pics, those help a lot. No you don't have the wrong tray and yes I did previously change the design file, but it wasn't a big change. It was more to push the bend slightly closer to the edge, which would in-turn push the accessories more inward, to add a little more clearance for the aftermarket hood strut issue. But at that time people were having problems with their hood struts making contact with the Blue Sea busbar cover, not the Switch-Pro itself... do you have the Redline or Spiker struts? Whichever ones they must have different mounting instructions because other users have theirs mounted closer to the front of the vehicle.

As you may have seen, others who are experiencing clearance issues due to aftermarket hood struts have simply used a couple washers to space the tray out away from from the fender. But I'm not sure if that was to make clearance for just the busbar cover or the actual SP unit. But your method of using brackets to lower the Switch-Pros down instead of out seems be another great method.
The bottom of the "L" shaped support leg (two elongated holes) gets mounted to the lower fender and the top (single hole) gets mounted to the inside lip of the PowerTray. I know the two holes make it seem like it would be the opposite, due to the PowerTray having two slots on that bend down tab, but most 3rd GEN Tacoma's (With the exception of the 2020) have that breather line bolt located closer to the front of the vehicle and requires the "L" shape in order to clear the factory fuse block. So I designed the leg to be compatible with wherever Toyota decides to put that bolt that holds the breather lines.

Thanks Maverick. I have the Spiker hood struts. I might need to add the washers to push it out a little as the strut is still making contact with the bus bar cover.

Would you happen to know if spacers are available that would fit the M8 screws?

Thanks as well for the confirmation on the support leg. I’ll flip it.

If I’m using a circuit breaker between the SP-9100 and the battery, do I still need to connect the circuit breaker to a terminal fuse block?

    Thanks,
    RJ

We do make a spacer kit to slightly relocate clutch reservoirs and power trays when additional clearance is needed - https://spikerengineering.com/product/spacer-kit

Wish I would have found your trays about a year ago. Purchased one from a competitor of yours and not too happy with it. Thinking about getting your Blue Sea 12 tray for my Tacoma to replace it. Any plans for a Black Friday sale? Don’t want to purchase one and then find out a week later it’s on sale.

Looks like you make solid and good looking products backed up with great customer service. Keep up the good work!

Yup I'll be doing a sale next week for sure. I'm Hoping to launch it on Monday and run it though Cyber Monday as opposed to just BF-CM like I've done before. I just need to make sure I have enough quantity on hand to do that.

This is going to be a read dumb question, so apologize in advance (just in the learning stages of switches/dual batteries)

What's the purpose of the blue seas fuse panel?

Is the blue seas fuse panel there for any constant power accessories (like a fridge) separate from the spod/switch pro controlled accessories like ditch lights?

yes correct its usually there for a fridge or somthing that needs power all the time. I run my fridge off it and when i had my camper shell the LED 12v lights. I use my SP to run everything else.

Yeah sorry guys for not posting sooner. I was trying to get a few inventory settings figured out on the products so everything on the site operates correctly. But yes the sale is live!

@Mr.PowerTrays Is this universal standoff tray available yet? I didn't see it on the site.

I have a Supercharger and a Manual so this is exactly what I was looking for to make it all work.

Am I doing something wrong here? It looks like the power tray has to be pushed out a little over an inch to clear the hood struts. The spacers spiker has on their website is only .5” and I’m not sure if they would even clear. Even if I moved the switch pros unit down like the previous post it looks like it would still hit the bus bar
