I was installing my Meso fuse cover and noticed I have these red and black wires running across my fuse panel. They appear to be tapped to my OBD panel and have an inline fuse. I wasn’t able to trace where they go. Seems a little odd for a manufacturer to use this setup for OEM connections.
Bought the truck brand new in May from a Toyota dealership.

    Does everyone have these wires?

Also in the same area I have this unplugged JST. Any idea what this is?

No, I haven’t installed anything electronic aftermarket. That’s why I’m scratching my head on this. Looks like someone installed something aftermarket, but I bought it brand new without any options.

That’s what I was looking for. I didn’t think it was, but didn’t know for sure.

Could be a hard wired GPS tracker. Sometimes with high risk credit loans they will install these as a condition. They used to install dongles but those were easily spotted.

Interesting, but I don’t think I would have gotten 0% interest through TFS if I were high risk.
I would think they would hide it better too if this were the case.

Mine had taps like those too... with 11 miles on it. Discovered them when I went to wire foot lights. I was able to trace them to the alarm system (got them to include it). I agree it's pretty hokey for a $43k vehicle!

Interesting, I’ll check if there’s an alarm system that maybe got forgotten by the dealership. Looking at the Toyota app, the truck appears to be a dealer swap, so maybe the dealership that the truck was originally allocated to installed an alarm system and never mentioned it to the dealership I bought the truck from.
