    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Started collecting parts and pieces for the car audio upgrade. Figured I'd start a thread to chronical the install.

Most of the parts and pieces are here. Still waiting on the sub amp to arrive. The dimensions of the sub amp are the same as the amp for the highs and mids. I've got pretty much everything I need, to start the project... so let's do this

So lets start with the parts list.

When I was a young buck, I was always interested in how obnoxiously loud I could make my vehicle. Now that I'm a bit more mature, I'm not really interested in blowing the windshield out of socket. Looking to get a nice sound, and a nice looking end product. Also trying to save as much space as possible.

Found a vendor that specializes on some really nice speaker/power wire.

    Power and ground

    Speaker wire

    RCA cables

As I said before, most of the stuff is already here.

The power/ground wire seems extremely high quality. Very flexible.
The knot is 1 guage power wire.

Speaker wire looks just as good

Speakers grills etc seem well made, good quality. Everything is pretty well ready to start.

BMW 128i seats will be part of this install as well.

Figure I'd start with some sound dampening.

Those seats look nice. How much work's it gonna take to fit 'em?

It's not too difficult to make them fit. We already installed a set of similar BMW seats is my son's 3rd Gen 4Runner.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-tacorunner-build.653030/page-4#post-23434785

I will probably look at cutting the brackets down to lower the seat about an inch. The seats are about 1 inch higher in his T4R... but he's quite a bit shorter than I am. The seating position isn't actually too bad for me, and my son likes it higher for him.

We already made the decision to lose the back seat. I made a platform for the dog. And it makes a good level spot to run a fridge.

It may seem like this gives unlimited space, but I'm still trying to make the box take up as little room as possible.

Relocated the brake light controll module thing under the platform. (the box that was mounted on the back wall behind the seat). Also, cut the mounting bracket for the factory jack.

Cut all the hooks for the baby seat anchors off the rail behind the seat... to make it easier to get the back of the box to fit close.

I pulled the rear seats out of mine too. Those jump seats in my AC are useless for actual people. Just put a 3/4" carpeted plywood board there in its place...much more utilitarian.

As far as your sub enclosure, you can always do a quick-release sort of thing - and XT60s for the electrical. That's one reason I did what I did with the back wall - so I could swap out sub enclosures fairly easily. The carpeted plywood blocks a lot of noise from the bed too.

Made a little more progress this evening.

Letting everything cure tonight... then sand the wood filler and paint with this.

Also ordered vinyl to replace the carpet.
