My factory battery keeps dying on me. I got a 2 channel dash cam set up with an after market alarm and remote start. I got a 2018 Tacoma SR5 short bed. Could it be the accessories keeps draining my battery so I need to get a secondary power source or my factory battery is going bad? Also would a 27f battery fit without any modifications? I’ve heard those are a lot better than the 24f I currently have.

It's your factory original battery, know problem. Mine was replaced under warranty this past summer, 2.5yrs old.

If you have aftermarket wiring, I'd definitely check for parasitic draw before replacing the battery. Go on YouTube and search for a video on how to check with a simple multimeter. 27f fits, just have to trim the plastic tray on one side and modify the j hooks a bit. Only really necessary if you're running a lot of items that pull a load. A few LEDs and a dash cam are more than fine on a 24f tho

The problem is the short bed.

I’ve been seeing on other forum threads that people have been replacing their factory battery in 2-3 years and sometimes under 30k miles. With how many times I’ve had to jump the damn thing it wouldn’t surprise me.

My 2017's battery didn't even make it to 19,000 miles.

Miles have little to nothing to do with battery life, at least not directly. Kind of miles, sorta.

Weather, number of starts, short run cycles, extra loads all create much more 'wear'.

Just like tires that come from the factory, the batteries are not high end stuff. Sometimes you get a good one. Sometimes not so much
