Yep and it goes well with the aesthetic of the rest of the truck!

Nice day today, almost 50*F! I took the opportunity to pull that dead license plate LED. Fiddled with it and couldn't get it going. Swapped in the old regular bulb and that lit right up.

Sent off an email to runnin4tacos support, we'll see what they say or offer for return or exchange etc.

I have all 4 of my originals and 4 of the 2nd packet. Ordered some diode dynamics license plate led's. You might want to as well? They aren't free but memario likes 'em.

I thought VLEDs were supposed to be good too. Isn't that what @MESO uses? If r4t doesn't replace these for free or I can't warranty them some way, I definitely won't be buying them again! So I'll probably go to DD if that is the case. I've heard many good things about them and their products.

I got a reply back from R4T. They are sending out a replacement VLED license plate bulb at no charge, so that's some good customer service at least!

Can you post a photo of this? I have been trying to come up with some sort of protection just about the tailgate handle as well.

I can try to? It is just a straight piece of clear film basically just above the tailgate handle and below the top trim piece. I don't think you'd even be able to see it in a picture though.

Thanks for the info. Was this an easy application? Any tips for the install? Do you need to remove any wax on the tailgate before applying?

I can't rightly say on how the install went, as I had someone else do it! :anonymous:

Honestly I looked into it and the 4-6" strip of clear film (either 3M or XPEL) is $35-40 and talking with some people it sounded like a PITA to put on cleanly. I'm not generally a DIYer either, so I called the place that did the XPEL PPF on my front end and they quoted me $75 to do it. For the extra $30 or so I got a professional to do it and it has the standard 10 year XPEL warranty now. For me that was easily worth the extra cost.

I think your driver side cubby work qualifies you as legit DIY'er.

Haha that is debatable, but I'll take it!

I just flailed around with a Dremel and then the rest was mostly plug-n-play parts (and even that I managed to scuff up my panel under there, sigh...).

Got my replacement license plate VLED bulb from R4T and put it in today. Nearly December and we were in the high 40s F! Working for now, so hopefully it or another doesn't go out again!

I also ordered @MESO's ultimate turn signals during the BF sale. Wasn't going to do them, but when I saw they also have the built in resistor to solve the tail light hyperflash, it put me over the top. Hopefully we continue to have warm weather so I can put them in when I get them. I don't want to do it when it is freezing out and the plastic is brittle, so if not I might end up waiting until spring.

Switched to my new grey "Off Road" @7r41lbr34k3r shift boot collar today. I think the stick is set for a while now!

Not a huge FB'er, but maybe I'll do so so I can catch some conversation here and there. I'm on most of the MT threads here on TW I think and get to see some good discussion from that!

Trying to get out of hibernation, but this spring has been annoying - either in the 40s or the 80s, nothing in between! The few times it has been nice enough to work on the truck, I've been busy and/or out of town!

A few updates, though nothing major so I haven't posted anything:
    • I did take it to the Woolwax undercoating place to get a spring touch-up done yesterday. They resprayed anything that looked like it had started to wear down over the winter. He said there wasn't too much and they didn't want to go too crazy and have a huge build up of gunk, but did a few spots that were thinning out. It's free since I bought the lifetime service, so might as well bring it in! Assuming in the fall they'll do a bit more extensive respraying in preparation.
    • My first project I'm planning to do myself is to finally install my 2Lo Mod that I've had around for way too long and not put in yet. Picking up my camper from storage reminded me why I wanted it! I found out about the HVAC illumination harness recently though, which will allow the switch lighting to turn on/off and I think dim as well with the other dash lights and switches. So I'm waiting for that to arrive and then I only have to tear apart my dash once I hope to install the 2LM and illumination harness for it as well.
    • After that I have the new MESO LED side mirror marker lights to install, which also should include a resistor to help with hyperblink on the taillights when backing up with the blinker going. I'm kind of nervous about pulling off that plastic cover on the mirror so waiting for a good warm to hot day where the plastic will be more pliable and not as brittle from the cold. Hopefully that will keep me from breaking any tabs in the process!
    • New tires to put on my 17" T4R Pro wheels are still on my list, but need to get the camper tires done as my priority this spring, so the truck tires may come later. Still debating on Toyo AT3 vs. standard BFG KO2s, but leaning towards the former. Pretty sure I'm going to go with a dedicated winter tires setup eventually though, so that may change just because the KO2s look a little better in my opinion, even if the rain/snow performance isn't as good as the Toyos. Also the Toyos are pretty hard to get still, on backorder everywhere, while KO2s are common.
Hopefully that is a good update for you. Haven't forgotten the thread, just haven't had a chance to do much modding yet!
