Yeah, I hated my drop in. The Ford factory spray in is decent but if I did it again I would probably look for a truck without anything and have it Line-x'd. The Ford one isn't as thick or slip resistant and I think the Line-X covers a bit more area around the edges and on the tailgate.

The Tundra came with a factory drop in, I hate it. I'm calling line x monday I think. I looked under the drop in and the paint looks like someone hit it with a sanding wheel from it moving around.

Yep, mine also. Fortunately, the paint is white so it’s not noticeable. I’d like to do a DIY raptor liner but don’t have the compressor to handle it or the area to spray it. I have a cover on it most of the time anyways so what I have works well enough. I’m fairly easy on my truck beds generally.

What compressor would you need to handle that?

for how much it costs to just have it done by a shop. It’s 500 ballpark for a truck bed. For a compressor and then tooling setup you’re in for like 250 anyway, and you’re giving it a college try when these shops do them all day long they know what to do. For me that’s worth the extra few bucks if it’s something I’ll use and abuse and have for hopefully 20 years. If it’s something on a short life I’d just look at doing a rattle can job in the driveway and touch up when needed like my skids.

Something that can keep up with a HVLP spray gun, my little pancake compressor would run out of umph pretty quickly. I don't think it needs to be anything crazy, but mine is a small one that I carry around the house to run an air nailer and fill up tires. It was cheap but fit the bill at the time.
I agree, given my current life situation. If I ever get a real garage, I'd like to set up an area to paint things, in which case I'd invest in the compressor and equipment to run a gun. Wouldn't make sense for just a single bed though. Plus, what I have works. The floor of the bed takes the most abuse from me and that's protected with the mat, scratches in the bed don't bother me one bit.

I have a 25 gal Craftsman pro that would probably handle it too, but I am probably pretty far from you.

Looks like mine is rated for 5.1 SCFM at 90 PSI.

Yep, mine will get up there in pressure but low CFM. Plus, no place to prep it u less I get to my dad’s house and commandeer his garage. It’s wish list stuff at the moment. Got a few other projects to tackle first. Going on a year of what I told me wife would be a couple month bathroom renovation :anonymous:

I live in downtown Indy, which is great. Carmel can be freaking weird. It’s basically Pleasantville. There’re some great kayak drop-ins there, though.

seemed like a nice enough place it was just surreal. And I ended up walking on some paved bike path thing for a few miles with the dog and it was just like a utopian movie set. Gave me the heebie jeebies.

Probably the Monon. Runs all the way from downtown and connects to bunch of different trails in and around the city.

Oh I know the feeling. Our bathroom took over a year..just ran out of money and time, plus I had to hire people for some stuff I wasn't capable of doing all by myself. Lived for close to a year walking on plywood and looking at part of the ceiling insulation while sitting on the can. Funsies..

Though if it's something that can be banged out in a day or so it could be done in my side yard once weather improves..just a thought
