Bought my Taco late July. I’m up to 2200 miles with a little mild off-roading so far. I just had installed 265/75/16 tires, and now I’m at the point that I think some kind of lift would be in order.

I have been doing some searching on here, but I have come away from it more confused I think. I do know I like the factory ride of the TRD OR, and whatever I end up with, I want it to be similar in ride to stock. I do not want bigger tires either. I have had spacers installed on other trucks, but I have always heard that eventually it causes accelerated wear on components. I really only want max of 2-2.5 “lift overall. It seems like a lot of the new Tacos I see around the dealer I bought mine from have spacers installed. I’m looking for suggestions as to what brand and lift setup I should consider, knowing I like the OE TRD OR suspension. Thanks for any suggestions and or ideas.

    Respectfully,

    Scott

I run kings suspension. I think if you paying money for a Tacoma invest in coilovers. Never install spacer lift

Thanks for response. Which King kit did you get? I’m only wanting a 2”, because I do not want to mess with diff drops, plus I havevthevTRD skid plate mounted.

Stay away from 5100s then cause those are stiff, ask me how I know. Hope others chime in.

I got the 25001-119 kit. Its a 2.5 lift kit but you can set it to 2inch. Also look into uca, I'm running some total chaos they help keep alignment numbers in spec

5100’s all around 2” front rear 1.5” Wheelers AAL. SPC’s upper control arms no complaints for me. Eibach also great lift. Budget friendly. Also 265’s still look good.
    Good luck OP

Yes 5100’s front/ coils you could use OME or OEM FACTORY COILS and rear AAL. WHEELERS website has kit. Eibach is a great one as well

I have an OffRoad DCLB, 1.25” wheel spacers and did a 2”/1.75” lift.
I only go off road occasionally and didn’t want to spend a fortune on suspension so I went with Ironman Foam Cell Pro shocks all around, Ironman front springs and single AAL’s with airbags on the rear (for when I tow my trailer or load up the bed)
The IM’s are great quality, didn’t break-the-bank and I can rebuild them myself for about $40/shock when the time comes. They ride really well and I’m happy with them. Would recommend 100%.

:rasta:Lots to choose from OP. GOOD luck. You will get a lot of advice. Go with your needs IMO. Stiff ride for some are great for others.

The second you lift it youre going to want a full suspension kit. I went with a Stage 1 Icon for budget reasons, but now i wish i wouldve gotten a full kit from OME because its more bang for your buck and comes with external reservoir, adjustablility functions, great reviews. Its 2” and improves your ride. Load weight is another topic you can explore as you get there.

I was in the exact same boat as you, and I also wanted the exact specs you are looking for, and for the same reasons. I have a 2017 TRD-O/R LB and I went with the Icon Stage-3 full suspension, which gave me two inches of additional lift and leveled my truck. I kept the stock wheels and fitted them with Toyo Open Country MT's in 265/75/16. The Icon's are a bit spendy but it gave me everything I was looking for in ride quality on and off the road.

Looks great. I want to do the same to my truck. Did you keep the factory rake doing this? I want to basically lift the truck 1.5-2” all the way around and keep the factory rake because I pull a boat all summer and the AAL will help with that too. I will be keeping with the 265s as well for tires. Also would I need new control arms? Thanks good looking truck! I have 130k miles on mine and still love it. Time to lift it a bit though.

Thanks brother appreciate it. I’ve loved these trucks my whole life. Had a 91 years ago LOL!! Then got my 19. Plan on keeping her a long time. Yes I do have about an 1” to 1.25” of rake. Towing a boat you could also get sumo or Timbren rear bump stops to help with weight. Also staying at a 265 will help with Towing. IMO IF you can get the control arms get them will help with alignment for sure. I wouldn’t change a thing IMO. It’s super exciting getting the lift. Keep me posted for sure.

Thanks again for the info. Is it possible to get back to factory alignment without getting a set of these Upper control arms? I’d like to keep it pretty close to avoid wearing out tires and other parts. I’d only go as high as 2” or could I only lift the front 1.5” and keep the old arms.

No problem bro. It’s a toss up some do some don’t. Good alignment tech can get you. I had wondering on freeway , a little positive camber which drive me nuts. SPC’s got me specs I needed worked great. Without proper alignment you might wear tires just FYI. Whe. You get alignment keep your sheet so we can see it. Here is my numbers with SPC’s Got a lot of help with numbers from members on here Wouldn’t change a thing 377AD839-FCB5-439B-9F08-C0B2122A157F.jpg
