Savage mark ii with the standard weaver 3x9 that comes with it. I’m sure I will upgrade the scope at some point.

    Nice Rifles!

Had a 572...really liked it, but mine (like yours) had the raised buttstock. I had a hard time getting my face low enough to line up the sights. If I come across one with the standard buttstock, I'll be tempted to pick it up.

I have a 121 as well...it was my Dad's. The look of a 'hammerless' .22 pump has always appealed to me...I also have a Winchester 61, and an FN 'Browning' Trombone.

I really want a pre-Savage CrackShot, but every one I've checked out has been either too loose, or priced more like a clean Favorite.

Didn’t even realize that butt stock issue on the 572 until you mentioned it. I’ve always just crammed my cheek against I guess. But now it’s irritating me, thanks :D

The 121 in my very uneducated opinion is a better gun, or at least is for me. I’m far more accurate with it, it’s nice and light in the hands, not as bulky as the 572, and it feels like the 121 cycles cartridges a bit more smoothly. My 572 will sometimes throw a fit with hollow points.

the crackshot, holy smokes I’m not sure I’d ever attempt firing that thing, it’s a wall hanger. Action is pretty loose in it and the barrel has a slight bend in it. Backstory on that: the gun comes from a list of relatives on my mother’s side. Apparently it was used mostly as a front porch snake gun in Arkansas way back when. One day it got on the wrong side of a car and got run over. When looking at it in person you won’t see the bend in it until it gets mentioned. But once the bend is mentioned it’s difficult to see anything else o_O:D

lol, sorry about that. I agree...the 121 is a better rifle, but I'd still like another 572. I put a peep sight on mine, and it helped a bit, but the real answer is to either scope it, or get the standard buttstock.

I bet that peep helps out a lot! I’d considered a scope back when I got the rifle, but I quickly got that out of my head since I’m not a squirrel guy. Strictly plinking around here.

We're plinkers, too. The peep sight only helped a bit...I think mostly because it was closer to my eye. The front sight remained the OE sharkfin. To get the most out of the peep, it would need a taller front sight. Anything taller than what is there now would look kind of goofy. Same goes for a big 'ol scope.

I put an old 3/4" tube 6X Weaver on one of my other pumps, and I have a much easier time pickin' off golf balls and bottle caps at 50 yards than I did with the open sights.
The old Winnie is more accurate than I expected...

Still one of my all time favorites. Have 3 of them and every single one is a tack driver.

Middle one is a 4” barreled .22lr upper with a suppressor under the handguard. The picture is from before ammo prices got crazy.

Edit: before you change the sights, try some hi viz florescent.. fingernail polish on the front blade. Or https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JSAE234/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
