My State Farm agent when I was in Seattle sent me the following message when I asked about adding on the Drifter.

"So it looks like we would be able to provide coverage for “The Drifter” it would be covered as a camping unit. Once you get an exact price of “The Drifter”, I can tell you an exact price for the Camping Unit insurance being added onto the policy for your 2019 Toyota Tacoma. The cost of covering the extra 11-13k in exposure is anywhere from $5.40 - $5.80 every 6 months for Collision coverage & anywhere between $12.30 - $13.20 every 6 months for Comprehensive coverage."

Note the dollar amount was in Seattle, single, no discounts so definitely more than most will pay. Overall pretty cheap though for peace of mind. The wait on getting another one built would be much more painful.

Also, everything inside that is personal is covered under your homeowner or renters insurance and usually not your auto insurance so be mindful that you have enough coverage there if you are gonna go super spendy on your toys in the back.

I had State Farm add it into my coverage. All they asked for was the receipt and serial number. My policy specifically states coverage for the vagabond outdoors drifter. It added less than $20 to my bill every six months (i made other changes so can’t say exactly how much the drifter coverage added).

Sounds like State Farm handles this differently at every office...

Back to wedge life! Just back from 2.5 weeks and 4000 miles on the road. Durango to the Ozarks to the Smokies to my hometown on the Ohio River, then back through Kansas (my nemesis for fifteen years now). Sorry if this is too many photos... these are straight out of the GoPro, the only camera I brought, and there are lots more I didn't post... ;)

Could be… I'm making holiday plans and if Baja doesn't happen, the Southwest will be the destination.

By "begins plotting", I really meant "begins dreaming"...

That said, I may well head for Arizona at some point - although it might be a trip to visit the lady's family in Phoenix. Probably won't make it anywhere near California this year. You guys keep me posted if you have any sweet ideas, it's too soon for me to know anything at all.

I added additional coverage for the drifter. In through farmers currently and it was no problem. They have it listed out separately as a camper

Since most of our trucks are pretty heavy, what brake pads is everyone using?

For context, my dcsb is about 6500lbs loaded. I have the stoptech bbk installed up front and the stock drum brakes in the rear. I need to replace my pads in the front. I've been using the stoptech street pads that came with the kit but looking at the other options. The rig sees pavement most of the time (semi daily driver + 2-3hr drives to get to the trail on average). I like to wheel all year round so the pads should be good in the middle of summer and in the cold months snow wheeling. I've gotten Porterfield recommended a few times but haven't heard reviews in the cold/snow yet. Looking to see what everyone elses uses before just going back to the stoptech street pads or maybe try out the porterfield pads.

With the 6-piston StopTech BBK, I believe I have the StopTech Sport pads TR.12470 (supposedly same compound as the Toyota TRD pads, far better than the StopTech Street pads). I haven't had much mileage in the winter/snow with them yet and I'm not as heavy as a lot of you with just an empty driver, fridge, tool bag, camping/MTB/Climbing gear and 2 bikes on the back. They have been great so far.

Same, except I have had plenty of winter/snow. I couldn’t be happier.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
Nice, nothing better than finding the perfect little tree amongst that beautiful landscape. Good memories your making there ;)
