Hey all. I’m curious about the gearing, transmission and suspension travel on the SR5 vs TRD off road before I buy one. I’m planning to install a 2-3” Bilstein or Old Man Emu full lift kit and run slightly larger tires, so I’ll be replacing the suspension anyways.

My question is: is there any difference in the stock ride height or how the truck is geared between the SR5 and the TRD? In other words, once I replace the entire suspension, will there be any difference in my ride height and my gearing and gas mileage between SR5 and TRD?

(I know the sr5 won’t have the locking diff, CRAWL mode etc, so I’m not asking about that. Just asking about the lift and gearing). Thanks

All 3rd Gens have the same ride height except for the Pro. All ATs are 3.909 and all MTs are 4.30.

All MTs and the OR / Pro ATs have 8.75 diffs. All the rest have 8.0in.

Thanks so much for the info! So if I am planning a lift with the auto transmission SR5 do you think I need to be concerned about the diff gearing (since its 8.0 instead of 8.75)? Basically, I’m just wondering if there is anything to be concerned about if I buy an SR5 AT and lift it, rather than a TRD OR.

    You're welcome!

I believe 8.75 gears are much more available? If you're going over 32in SL sidewall tires, it sounds like a regear or the OV Tunes are a requirement.

BTW, you can check gear, tires size, and speedo changes here using the gear info in my signature:

Gotcha. Yeah I’d stay right around 32” (285/75r16 or something similar). So, sounds like an SR5 AT won’t be too different than a TRD after lifting in terms of engine power, gearing etc
