This chirping noise you guys hear in neutral I don’t hear on my mine and I’m at 115K with the original clutch.
I did the clutch accumulator delete last week. While my wife was pumping the clutch pedal so I could bleed the system the amount of noise on the input shaft was loud as hell. That shaft was bone dry.
My throwout bearing is probably shot.
Clutch/pedal feel good, especially after the bleed and free play pedal adjustment.

Just to clarify, this is a stock throw out bearing that the center bore has been enlarged to fit over their sleeve. If the shaft is damaged, use it. If the shaft is fine, dont.

Ask me how i know. Also ask me how much it costs to have a transmission removed 300 miles after a stage 2 urd clutch and throw out bearing "upgrade" kit was installed and failed.

Then ask me how long it takes to get replacements or a refund - the answer is who knows.

Also, the chirping noise from what ive been told begins when the clutch friction disc is worn outside of spec. As the disc gets thinner the pressure plate fingers eventually release enough to slightly contact the throw out bearing, causing the chirping. The bearing may not neccesarily be bad, just contacting.

I'm sure it could give the same effect. I didn't want to do the pedal because of the fear of putting on too much pressure. Who knows if that would be a bad thing. Even after the SC rebuild I still get a little chirp, just not as bad as before.

If I remember correctly the biggest reason I went the SC route is that the new rod is bigger than the original, but it has the same part # as before. It is as if they revised it.

An incredibly bad design as far as I am concerned .
I understand that the transmission was beefed up to counter act the missing pilot bearing . After very carefull consideration , I think Toyota needs to do more to compensate for this switch .
When you mash your clutch pedal to the floor , your clutch disc is supported by the input shaft . A rotating clutch disc thats spinning at 3000 rpm creates a lot of load even if it only weighs 4 pounds . In days gone by when you mashed your clutch pedal to the floor , The pilot bearing use to support the clutch disc . Now , when you mash your clutch pedal to the floor , you rely on the transmission input shaft to support the load of that spinning clutch disc
In my opinion , its one of the reasons you cant keep a throwout bearing alive in the Tacoma .Not the top reason but 1 of the reasons .
Considering there are far less throwout bearing issues with the 5 speed manual which uses a pilot bushing , I may have a valid point
With the above mentioned , is there room to install a pilot bearing or is the input shaft too short to extend into the back of the crankshaft ? also , is there a snub on the input shaft that would except a pilot bearing ? sorry been a while since I did a clutch on the 6 speed manual.
Somebody show me some side views of the input shaft please

I have a 2008 5 spd manual and I hear a chirp in neutral that goes away with the clutch pushed in. You are saying that no one with 5 speeds have TOB issues?

No sir . I am not saying that , however I am saying there are far less issues with the 5 speed clutch release bearing because the 5 speed transmission uses a pilot bearing to support the clutch disc when you put your foot to the floor , where the 6 speed no longer uses a pilot bearing .

The reason I brought this up is to make possible modifications to the input shaft for improved support of the input shaft as well as the clutch disc . At this point in time , I dont beleive there is much that can be done to improve the design of the 6 speed without spending millions on research and developement .Some guys say the 6 speed is fine just the way the engineers desinged the input shaft .
What I would like to know is how much that input shaft moves when the clutch disc is pulled away from the pressure plate .
When a pilot bearing went bad or out of round , you could see symptoms of the pressure plate being loaded off center as the clutch was released from the wobble in the clutch disc which in turn would munch your release bearing and clutch very quickly . It was one of the reasons a self aligning release bearing was released .
Just researching ..and the reason I requested the pictures .

Ahhh understood. I’ve read a bunch of your posts on the TOB fix and went cross eyed trying to sift through all the differing opinions. I don’t want to open a up a new can of worms on this thread, but do you still stand behind the clutch pedal adjustment as being the fix? I never tried it, but would like to.

okay guys I got one to throw in the mix I had mine done 3,000 miles ago with all Toyota parts supposedly it updated bearing as well the noise is back and it's worse and there's a clunking sound now.

I'm not sure if I replace the bearing and clutch in time and maybe there's transmission damage now I am so busy at work that I do not have time to go and take care of this unfortunately and it is probably going to get worse by the time I get to it.

All I know is that when we replace the clutch parts it was great clutch felt like new again and then the noise came back about 3,000 miles later.

That can of worms is already fully open lol .
I am not going say the pedal adjustment is the " Fix " because it is not a true fix .Without making serious clearance modifications , It is just an adjustment .
If you have never made an attempt to adjust it , give it a shot

toyota parts and design for the 2nd gen Tacoma 6spd clutch are inferior. They probably used the same on 3rd gen if not found a few more additional ways to make it worse with unreliable things that fail.
previous gen Toyota trucks appear to have come with better design clutches that are simpler, cheaper, and more reliable.

The TOB snout cannot be separately replaced. It can on most other passenger cars.
and the TOB tends to squeal.
Clutchmasters developed a hydraulic TOB kit meant to upgrade it

    I've seen it.
The first bearing lasted 65,000k before making the noise so I will throw that out the window.
I think it has to do with the transmission now. And just excellerorated the cheap bearing.

As I said now there is a knocking and when you disengage the driveline by pushing in the clutch the noise goes away. I think there is more too this than just simply replacement of a bearing

I think this sleeve where the bearing sits is the culpritScreenshot_20201201-115145_Chrome.jpg

But what would be causing the knocking, idk.
    The fork possibly hitting something.
Nothing should be (wiggling) around in there

So I went under there today and tried but I could not see the pivot point as clear as in the video.
Im not sure it is excessable as easy as in the video.
Let me know what you find

It’s definitely not as clear as the video, but take a look at this thread. I found some bamboo skewers that I think I can reach up and get grease on the pivot point, but I haven’t tried it yet. I only looked last night. You have to press fairly hard, but you should be able to push the clutch fork towards the slave cylinder.
