I have a 2018 6 speed TRD 4x4 and some times in first gear the vehicle slams while shifting with a loud bang and shudder. I’ll reset and then it takes more gas to release the clutch. Once driving at speed it’s fine. Doesn’t happen all the time (rarely but maybe 3-4 times in a week). Usually in a drive thru or some in and out of first slow moving situation but again not always. I don’t believe it’s the torque release in the rear end because this is loud and brakes the vehicle and I’d describe it as violent.

Update, I’ve owned this truck since it was new and this just started happening 6 months or so ago and has progressively gotten worse. Also I have driven a manual for 24 years. I’m not stalling it out.

    Welcome aboard!

Maybe you're just stalling out? No offence but I think it's driver error. Practice makes almost perfect.

Hey Venkman - is this truck new to you? I only ask because, even though I am pretty decent at driving a manual, it took me a few weeks or more to be able to shift my truck out of first gear with any kind of smoothness. My wife thought the truck was broken the first few weeks we drove in it but now it's as smooth for me as any other manual.

The accumulator is kind of a bastard also. I'm not sure if that is playing into your issue but when you say you 'reset it and it takes more gas to release the clutch', that's what I think of.

Agree on the accumulator being a big bastard. My truck "shuddered" a bit in first when taking off in 1st uphills. With the ADM, its smooth like butter. What a useless device it is.

I noticed this truck needs very little throttle in 1st to get moving, 1st gear is nice and low. I usually just need about 1k rpm to get moving in first. Dont see how OP after drving manuals for 24 years, could be stalling this truck. Its kind of hard to stall this taco IMHO.
