I have resisted the urge to replace my Off Road grill with the Pro grill, but I never liked the chrome Toyota emblem on my 2018. I ordered some Xpel Slate Smoke Paint Protection Film (PPF) to darken the bright chrome. The Xpel Slate Smoke comes in 3 levels, 50% 35% 25%. The film is mainly designed for headlights. I bought both 50% and 35%. I cut the 35% on my plotter today and installed the 35% to see how it looked.

I installed clear PPF on the grill sensor a few days after I bought the Tacoma and I have never had any sensor issues. I was pretty confident changing the PPF to Smoke wouldn’t cause any issues either. I still need to get out on the highway and try the adaptive cruise control, but so far haven’t had any warnings pop up.

I’ll get some better pics outside, but it turned out pretty good. The sensor now matches the color of the cheese grater grill with the bonus of protecting the sensor from rock chips.

I like this... I've been wondering why hasn't someone just come up with some new emblems for this grill badge. I have the 2021 OR grill and it's not bad except for that sill toyota logo. Think I can cut these out with a hobby knife?

It’s tough to cut a perfect oval. I cut these on a plotter. I can send you one precut. PM me if your interested and we can figure it out.

Been meaning to do this. Another post has been discussing it. That looks good. Is it as dark in person as the pic shows?
I think I'll try the 25%. I just wanna tone it down.
Agree: If someone makes a mod, they'll do well.

Think I'll try putting on a square and razor blading around it. Then when I screw that up, I'll beg you to make me one.

I wonder if this has any meaningful impact on the radar? I would assume that this slightly increases the reflection of the wave right in front of the sensor. Would need someone well versed in RF to get a solid answer.

I would like it in 35% also.

I used a blade to cut mine after I installed it. Easy to cut when the grill/logo guide the blade for you.

Not an expert by any means but I've had mine done for a while and I can't tell any difference. Radar cruise works like normal. The logo is pretty thick plastic so I doubt this small layer of vinyl matters.

I had my tint guy do the emblem with PPF for the whole 10 extra dollars.TSS works perfectly.

    Looks so much better!
