Warn Zeon Platinum 12S Issues

285/75/16 BFG KO2 Ditch Lights

So I found a very nice winch on Facebook Marketplace. It’s a Warn Zeon Platinum 12S 12,000lb. He’s asking $500. I went to look at it and asked if we could test it out. We tried hooking it up to a battery and it would not stay on. It would come on and off intermittently, but it would stay on. I’m wondering if it needs to be grounded to the chassis (installed onto the vehicle to ground it). Does anyone have any experience with these?

Not that winch in particular but you should be able to hook it to a battery and have it work without issue.
