Many moons ago, I built a wooden kayak. I bought a book with the plans and instructions, and the very last instruction was to go put a scratch in it dragging it up a beach.. then it's finally done.

The dings just means it's finally done and yours

My daughter peed all over my front seat during a diaper change. My wife laughed hysterically instead of using the diaper in her hand to soak it up. It’s been more than 6 yrs, but I’ll never forgive her for it.

Amen to that - I mean - I expect to run into these experiences cause I do have a 5month old too. So as she gets older I expect to see that in my life. But at that time the truck will probably be 5 years old with a couple scratches and dents. As I did update this truck from a 2017 model for its additional safety features for the family. - I guess my rant was leaning towards how new the truck is, not how bad my family is...

I never put anything with the potential to spill on the seats - including grocery bags with packaged meats or the like. They go on the floor mats.

I haven't even had my dogs in my truck yet. I'm sure this over protectiveness will go away, just not sure when.

lmfao shit happens, its an adventure truck and I treat it like one. If these things bother you then you gotta work on your self control, but I get it.

My wife and kids trashed my truck the first month I had it. Milk and chicken nuggets spilled in the back. Makeup lost and melted all over the floor. sand and mud all over the back of my seats from the kids climbing everywhere. Shoot and just recenlty someone tried to break in with a jimmy and peeled off a lot of paint on my rear window.

My wife would pay for the ding. I’d have to setup the appt probably. We def fight over the food thing - she say something like, “I bought & brought your ass dinner...”

I’m very anal about keeping my truck as clean and ding free as possible. Some people just don’t give a shit and treat their vehicles like trash cans. My daughter-in-law for instance, and it drives me nuts because she is one of those that always wants to drive the newest and fanciest. Thing is, inside of a month the thing will look like a junkyard. I told my son stop buying her new vehicles until she learns to take care of them.

There is a huge difference between unavoidable damage or wear due to normal use and that which is caused by willful neglect.

I seriously contemplated upgrading my 2017 to a newer version because of the safety features as well. Looks like we have the same stuff going on. And like I said, I totally get where you're coming from. I give stink-eyes to my family while we're in the garage regularly. They also know if they bump into the Taco and I'm around, they'll get the eye! It's actually pretty funny. To put it into context, I also have a really nice carbon mountain bike and there are rules with that too. lol. Unfortunately, I'm at the very bottom of the totem pole as far as how important my personal toys are to the family. They still respect my stuff but if they bump my truck or the bike, they chuckle. Oh families. I totally get the Al Bundy's, the dad from Christmas Story, etc... now.

Yeah dude... preach on! I'm the same way. My wife neglects her Highlander. I clean mine regularly and take pride in keeping it pretty. Even with kids, a little effort and care goes a long way to keeping a vehicle looking nice for years... both external and internal.
