In addition, these are the settings that I'm running on my B14 MT. These I got from the OP and they successfully resulted in the desired tapering, the specific results for which I documented and posted about earlier in this thread.

Battery charge should be based on temperature, not on idle as far as I know.

Battery charging from the alternator should also be based on the charge level of the battery, not just the ambient temp. Although the ambient temp will affect ALL charging states. If you keep charging a lead acid battery at 14.5 volts and it’s fully charged, it’ll start to boil and affect battery health. At some point, the ECU will see that the battery is full, and go into a float mode to maintain a good charge. Float charging is generally around 13.5 volts for a 12v battery. These voltages drop as the ambient air temp rise and conversely for lower temps.

I’m wondering if people experiencing the alternator charging voltage dropping to mid 13v when they come to stop , or an idle, is a result of the ecu adjusting voltage from a cycle charge to a float charge.

also wondering if it’s possible to make adjustments to the ecu that effects the charging state. For better or worse.

You may need to adjust some values accordingly since you live in a much colder area than I lol

    FYI just found this: https://masterbattery.com/wp-conten...-Automotive-and-Marine-Application-Manual.pdf

By my math, at 25C the optimum float charge should be 13.62V. Not sure really how to handle float charge with the VF tables.

I just verified with Northstar float voltage for AGM batteries:

    13.6V @ 25C +/- 18mV per C change, but NEVER lower than 13.2V under any circumstance.

As Tacomarin said above, though, not sure how to handle this in the tables though. We need a float table and a charge table really.

Is there a consolidated/updated best settings screen shot to use for 04B04? Didn't see anything for it in the shared docs

yes, I agree with you both.

I was thinking it’s possible that some of the tables in vF could possibly control float vs cycle charge, and we just don’t know it yet?

You might be right. In vF there's a couple seemingly duplicated fields and I'm wondering if they are the duty cycle for float vs charge. I noticed this last night when I was reflashing.

Yeah. I’m gonna play with them. A few have posted about charging voltage dropping at idle and my interest is piqued about it.

I have the registration key downloaded but I can not get the identify button to highlight so I can read my ECU. Any ideas?

Can we not turn this into another general support thread and leave this one focused on AGM? There's three other vF Tuning threads that are completely unmanagable and every 10th post is someone having a problem in each of them.
