Also with heavier 33's… very suspect.

Y'all missed it. He clearly stated at 1 min 33 seconds that the truck on the dyno is a FOURTH gen Tacoma.

Good news boys......just spoke to Eric at RIPP. He is going to join up here so he can be a part of the thread and talk about making things right. He did tell me a simple fix so you choose to do this is to simply NOT bolt them down. He said without any issue that will work and they will not pop off. He also related that his 2 vehicles, one being a race car that this is how he personally runs them. He said that this all just hit his desk this morning and he is now aware of this issue. I’m sending him the link to our thread so at some point he should chime in.

RIPP has been communicating with me and stated they are working with the manufacturing to update the fitment and will work with me to remedy the coil back so take me as the Beta test on these. At least based on photos they admit that its pretty off and are only comparing to the proto type but called them out that even then it was close and could have benefited from a slightly shifted alignment. I am going to test fit more and get some photos @SUMOTNK could prob use some of yours as well. Although no warranty this is clearly a bad design or manufacturing mishap.

funny that they just heard about it. I have been talking to them for the past 3 days. =)

Also with how our trucks run (non-race trucks but offroad) id rather no have them just hanging there unbolted.

@JuanitoBunito @nudavinci64 Thanks for doing the legwork on getting RIPP's attention and trying to get them to rectify this.

I'm not intimately familiar with the engine layout (air pump, etc) on the Gen2.5s but on my Gen2 (2008), the passenger side ignition coils/plugs are easily accessible. So let me know if you need additional photos or a 2nd test fit, etc....

Yeah, there's a difference between a reliable vehicle you just get in an drive and a race vehicle that you are inspecting before every drive...

He did say that he had spoken to someone from our thread. He may have embellished a bit on “just” hit his desk. He gave me a title of director of marketing. He stated that it will be a process of having them remolded, R and D , and so on. He did assure me that they won’t pop off

Its pretty much the same I can access all of them on the passenger side easily. The difference is more to the left facing the truck where the SAI is. RIPPs test vehicle is 2014 as well. Ill check later today when I have time.

His 2 vehicles that he has these on are his Jeep and a race car. The only thing I was gonna suggest is for one of you guys to try it. Pop them in and turn them to clear the valve cover, plug em in and run your truck. See if what he is sure of works.....
The alternative is to send them back and wait til the fix the mold.

yah its not an issue with the plugs but fitment with the tacoma. his jeep and race car is not tacomas so not really a comparison. Since we have the S/C and the packs are just loosely there on the right side not a great place. Also paid for a production fitment and its not. So will work with fitment and exchange as they noted. Im game for it but just a bummer.

touche! I will agree they don't seem like they would fall off but overall fitment is what I expected and did not get it.

I told him I definitely want the product on my truck. I’d probably return them and to not refund my dough and send me out the revised packs.

RIPP should not be okay with releasing coils that are not unbolted onto the valve covers. They will not pop off YES, BUT that should in no way deem them as a passable fitment for our trucks.

Gen 2.5's are just as easily accessible on the valve covers as Gen 2's by the way.

    Hello everyone

We are aware of the fitment issues and are working with manufacturing to get it all sorted. 2nd gen Coil Pack sales have been stopped while we do so.

If anyone wishes to return their set for a full refund you are absolutely able to do so and we will take care of all shipping costs.

To return your set please email sales@rippmods.com with your original order number and specify that you are returning 2nd gen Tacoma Coil Packs.

At this time we are going to only do returns for a full refund so that we can ensure everyone's issue is taken care of fully and that no orders are left open while we redesign the Coil Pack mounts. If you purchased during the Black Friday sale at 10% off we will absolutely honor that price if you decide to purchase the redesigned units. We will provide a one time use discount code to all who return their coil packs.
