Noise under hood at cold start up

    I own a 2012 Tacoma. Never had any issues with it yet. What could cause a under hood noise for appr. 30 seconds ONLY at first start-up each day. Sometimes at end of work day. Otherwise, no noise except when it's cooled down. Sounds like some small motor slowing down when the noise stops. Thanks.

    Hi Geno. There’s an air pump under the hood. I don’t know a lot about it but that’s likely what you hear.

    I think I know what you're talking about, as I have heard a noise as well upon startup that goes away after about 15-20 seconds. sounds like a whistling/whirring noise. I always figured, like stated above, it was the secondary air pump, and kinda just brushed it off.

    watching in case someone knows more about it/it's something else.
