Not quite a Wisconsinite but close now again. I live near Rockford and am back and forth from Madison quite a bit.

I’ve had my Engo for a handful of years with great luck. It’s slow and loud but always works.

I’d recommend not spending extra cash on Warn’s marketing...I mean winch. Comeup would be my go to if I was spending more money.

I would definitely go Engo if I was trying to save a few bucks.

But, my Warn wasn't much more than the comparable Engo. Regardless of marketing, it works just fine. And, the warranty is way better than Engo.

I didn't buy it because of marketing. I bought it because it was recommended to me by people with way more experience than me.

I’ve had buddies that have had multiple motors and brakes replaced on their hs9500’s and little nuggets like this aren’t hard to find. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/hammersaurus-lex-the-lx470-gets-tons.1132419/page-13#post-12882418

The general consensus is that they’ve really cheapened up internally but still charge a premium. That being said, I do love an 8274

I had a friend in HS whose rear end broke when the wheels came off on the expressway. Someone tried stealing the wheels and left only the locking lugs.
Anyway, being a poor HS student, after putting a boneyard axle in the car he didn't have enough for shocks. Drove around for weeks with a couple of 4 x 4's shoved between the axle and frame until he could afford to get shocks.

Start with more aggressive tires and a skid plate.

I am thinking that will be one for the first things. Since if I order I probably wont see it until Feb or Mar, so I probably will run this for the first summer then ditch them before fall next year. The main thing I am torn about is to go with a topper or a bed rack for the tent. I don't want to get this thing to heavy to the point where I am getting 15mpg on road trips. Alot to think about thats for sure.

    No problems with my EVO.

Plenty of Engo winch problems if you google it.

Every manufacturer will have issues now and then. There are probably more Warn winches in use than any other manufacturer. There are bound to be a few bad apples.

And again, the comparable Engo winch wasn't that much less expensive than my EVO, and Warn has a better warranty.

I was going to ask so I am going for a pretty basic truck from the dealer. The only options I am having added are the LED headlights and Floods as well as the blind spot since the fiancé is going to drive this daily since I have a work truck. Think thats pretty good. I dont need anything else and would rather save money for other things down the road.

see your first problem is right there, you're trying to do anything with the Tacoma and you're worried about fuel economy... Lol

All kidding aside (I average 22mpg in mine, with steel armor everywhere) welcome to Tacomaworld!

Yeah step one is accepting you’re buying a Tacoma.

step two is also accepting you’re not buying it for gas mileage.

    I have a 2.5” lift and 275/70/R70 tires and I’m lucky if I get 15 mpg.
