Headed down to Hidalgo county a few weeks back to help a buddy thin out some does on his lease. I ended up with 3 down as did my buddy for a total of 6. The best part was seeing his nephew take his first deer. Such a cool experience. Now I need to get back down there for some of the free range Nilgai.

That is awesome.... nothing like seeing a kid shoot their 1st (or second or third) deer.

Nilgai is high on my bucket list. I understand their rut is coming up early in the year. If your buddy sub leases hunts out there, i would be interested in one of this hunts.

Figured this would be a great place to run a question by some of you more experienced hunters- I'm only on my 3rd year of deer hunting.

I shot 2 bucks in Kerr County (5 deer, no more than 2 bucks; no 13" rule) and it's my understanding I am legal to shoot a 3rd buck in Limestone county (4 deer, no more than 2 bucks; 13" rule in effect), as my total state bag limit is 5 whitetail deer, no more than 3 of which can be bucks.

Just want to make sure I'm following all the rules, I am good to go chase my 3rd buck in Limestone County this weekend? Thanks in advance.

As long as you have the tags and you abide by county hunting limits, you should be good.

That's what I thought just wanted to make sure. First year hunting in 2 counties. Thanks for the feedback!

And helped my dad get his biggest buck to date. He took this porker Saturday evening. Biggest body I’ve seen off our lease

Bearded hen. Have one more buck I am after this season. Hoping to get him when rut starts which is late in South Texas. So far this season one 10pt buck, three doe, this Turkey and two jackrabbits since October Archery season started. I only bow hunt.

I don’t get a buck every year, but I’m very thankful for this guy, yesterday. Best of all, my son was with me.

I had to cut my last hunt short earlier this week, and I hadn’t seen my buck on camera in a few weeks anyway, but got these this morning. Glad to see he’s still walking, hope to find him next year.

    Very nice deer.
    Details on the harvest?
Rifle, caliber (including load info), can, distance, shot placement, weight?

Yup, he should be even nicer next year! I’m pretty sure one of the neighbors got the big 10 I was seeing on camera early in the season, but if I get a picture of him I’ll be super excited too! Not bad for a little 12 acre piece of property.

Remington 700VS 308 cut 9” off of the barrel, crowned, threaded and timed the brake. AAC SND 6 in 30 cal(heavy but built like a tank!) HS precision stock, badger ordnance bolt knob rail and rings, Leupold MK4 scope. Stock trigger but lightened to about 2lbs. It’s my bang around in the woods gun. Ammo is off the shelf Winchester silver tips(great performance). Shot was just shy of 100yds. I pulled it and shot low, but that ment I saved all 4 quarters lol. Don’t have a weight on it but it’s heavy.

I had to add this one. My brother took this one a couple of days after I saw him chasing does. He is a brute great KY archery kill. I should’ve posed with the deer I could’ve pretended to be the man behind the riser lol04920934-918C-4820-86B9-263D28157DAA.jpg
