That was pretty much the family friendly version.

Being this was the late fifties early sixties single women parents were few and far between in her later years Mom said she only stuck with him for the support.The story was that him and his sister were fighting over a penny that was how copper wire was invented.

Funny my Grandfather on his side was pretty cool He taught the me basics of hunting and fishing and to feel comfortable any place outdoors with him living 4 hours away I never saw him all that much till I could drive.

I turned 18 and was out of there.

 

That 1"X1" reminds me of my oldest when he was in welding school. He worked at a bike shop while in college, and the owners gave him all the 1x1 he wanted that the bikes came shipped in. He was building something all the time outa that stuff, with the little 140 we got him as a HS grad present.

I wasn't too bad of a kid, never got a 'whoopin' but my brother had his fair share (at home and at school). It wasn't until I started drinking heavily (at 15) that I started getting out if hand. By that time a spanking would have been somewhat useless, I probably needed jail time. Btw; 29 years sober. I may choke down a beer every year or two but the desire has long since passed. I replaced drinking with hunting and fishing; I was just on vacation for 35 days....I spent 32 of those days in a tree.

As the youngest of 6 (my next oldest sister is 10 years older than me, my oldest brother is 18!), he had refined discipline to the bare essentials. I can really only remember my day whipping me with his belt once. Because that's all it took!

I was born in Georgia and was smacked with a switch by my kindergarten or 1st grade teacher for getting into a fight with another kid that pushed me off of a swing and into a mud puddle. Day just kept getting better and better.

I've made lots of "T" tubes before, but surprisingly these are my first "Y" tubes. For a T I usually blow a hole in the side of a tube and splice on the perpendicular tube without having to add any rod. For these, I actually layed out the cut pieces and welded the gaps which made it possible for me to get all the angles right beforehand. They're .5" and 1" diameters.

I know a lot of times you guys don't weld the inside of acute angles but these needed to be completely sealed so I had to and its a PITA.

 

That would be tough to do with any type of material but for you to do it with glass is truly a work of art

 

Anybody else take old small drill chucks and make adapters for them to be used other places? I did this one a while back to hold small drills in the mill, it’s range is 0-1/4”.

 

Damn, I just got in under the wire...they still ain't showed me the secret hand-shake though.
