Hi everyone, stoked to join the taco club!

Recently picked up a 1st gen 99 extracab SR5 with 115k miles. No locker but I don't really intend on doing anything wild. More the confidence to get through more varied conditions. Probably could have gotten by with a pre-runner but hey, whatever :)

I could tell a tale of spending hours trawling the interweb for grandpas truck at an amazing price but that is not the case. I probably overpaid but I'm totally happy, and the truck provided for an awesome adventure vehicle at last minutes notice.

As you can by the pic, as soon as I saw the state of the interior I knew it had to be mine. Body and undercarriage are equally as clean. Pretty good I thought for a truck old enough to buy a beer!

The week after I picked it up I strapped on a spare 1st gen tacoma shell and went exploring covering around 1200 miles through eastern CA and NV. Truck performed flawlessly and got commendably mileage given how loaded down it was and the number of steep climbs. Now even more in love with this perfect sized explorer!

The truck's condition is almost perfect and looks like new. The inner OCD in me sees the need to replace a couple of minor things. Like most first gens the window weather strip paint is flaking off and need to be replaced, and the headlights have a very minor yellowish tinge from age so thinking of replacing both to get the whole thing looking factory fresh. I've seen both on the usual pages such as ebay, but if anyone has specific recommendations for good sellers of either of these parts, please let me know.

I look forward to many years of taco times ahead!

Oh and Im thinking of beefing up the rear to better handle a hitch hauler for a dirt bike. Any recommendations would also be appreciated. (I know, I know, search is my friend).
